Vyommitra(Woman Robot Astronaut) is going to fly into Space ahead of ISRO’s “Gaganyaan” Mission

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh claimed that VyomMitra-Woman Robot Astronaut is going to fly into Space before one of the ambitious missions of Indian Space Research Organization ‘Gaganyaan’.

 Vyommitra Mission is scheduled to be implemented for the third quarter of this year and Gaganyaan, India’s first human manned Space Flight carrying Indian Astronauts into Space, is scheduled to be launched in the next year 2025.

About Vyommitra:

Vyommitra is a female Robot Astronaut developed by Indian Space Research Organization. The name Vyommitra is derived from two Sanskrit words- Vyoma and Mitra.

The meaning of Vyoma is Space and the meaning of Mitra is friend. The Vyommitra has the capability to issue alerts, monitor module parameters and operate life support execution in space. It has the capability to perform some important tasks such as operating six panels and it also responds to the queries.

Vyommitra Robot Astronaut is designed in such a way that it can perform the stimulation of human function in space and can interact with life support systems.

About Gaganyaan mission:

Gaganyaan is India’s first human Space Mission to be launched in the next year 2025. In this Mission, ISRO is going to send three humans into Space for a 3 Day mission and bring them back to earth safely. These three humans will be sent into Space with an orbit of 400 km.

The name Gaganyaan is a Sanskrit word for a vehicle or craft to the sky. The cost of the development of the Gaganyaan mission is around ₹90 billion. After the successful launch of Gaganyaan mission, India will become the fourth country to conduct a human Space Mission after the Soviet Union, the US, and China.

About TV-D1:

On 21st October 2023, Indian Space Research Organization launched test vehicle demonstration (TV-D1), one of the critical phases of Gaganyaan mission. This is a single-stage liquid propulsion rocket having a Crew escape system and a crew module.

This test vehicle has been launched to test the important components of this human space mission such as the crew module and crew escape system.
