Who was Sheikh Mujibur Rahman?: All you need to know about
Mujibur Rahman was a Bangladeshi politician and statesman. He was born on 17 March 1920 in Tangipara village in the then India (present-day Bangladesh). Mujibur Rahman is considered the father of nation in Bangladesh.

About
- When India gained independence from the British in 1947, India was partitioned and a separate country in the form of Pakistan was formed.
- Today’s Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan.
- But then the people of Bangladesh started demanding independence from Pakistan and then Bangladesh became independent in 1971 with the help of tough struggle and India.
- After that, East Pakistan recognized as Bangladesh in the world.
- The freedom struggle against Pakistan was started by Mujibur Rahman and he paved the way for the establishment of Bangladesh.
- Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the first President of the country after the independence of Bangladesh and then also took the post of Prime Minister thereafter.
- The people of Bangladesh gave him the title of Bangabandhu (Bôngobondhu “Friend of Bengal”) in view of his patriotism. People used to call him Bangabandhu with love and affection.
