All About Khelo India Winter Games 2024
The khelo India Winter Games 2024 will be held for the first time in the union territory of Ladakh on 2nd February 2024. The first phase of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 is scheduled from 2nd Feb to 6th Feb and the second portion of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 is scheduled in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir from 21st Feb to 25th Feb 2024.
Mascot and logo:
To keep the tradition and biodiversity of Ladakh, the mascot of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 is a snow leopard and it has been named Sheen-e She’ or Shan in Ladakh region.
The logo of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 is filled with Indian tri colors reflecting the uniqueness of the country and further representing many sports which are showcased on the cards. There is also a Dharmachakra on a hilltop in Chanspa in Leh, the venue of the Games.
The logo and Mascot of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 were launched virtually and there were some prominent personalities such as Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and Shrimati Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Director General of Sports Authority of India, Shri Sandip Pradhan among other senior officials from Government of India and the two UTs presented in the online ceremony.
The opening ceremony of Khelo India Winter Games 2024 will be inaugurated by The Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting, GoI, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur on 2nd Feb at the NDS stadium in Leh.
About snow leopards:
Ladakh will host the khelo India Winter Games 2024 for the very first time. The snow leopards are found on the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh around 3200 meters. The other Himalayan states of India and high altitude areas of other neighboring countries such as Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, China, and Central Asia are also the home for snow leopards.
About khelo India Winter Games 2024:
Khelo India Winter Games 2024 is the fourth edition of the annual event of khelo India calendar. Jammu and Kashmir also hosted the games in 2020 and this is the first time when union territory Ladakh is going to host the Games with Jammu and Kashmir. Leh will be the venue for the first portion of the Games and then transfer to Gulmarg for the second phase.
