Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020
The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has announced virtually the results for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)-2020.
What is Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)?
- It is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India to systematically rank all the major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculties.
- ARIIA considers all major indicators which are commonly used worldwide to rank most innovative education institutions/ universities in the world.
- More than quantity, ARIIA focuses on quality of innovations and tries to measure the real impact created by these innovations nationally and internationally.
Major Indicators are:
- budget, expenses to support and revenue generated
- infrastructures and facilities to support innovations and start-ups
- awareness activities for promoting idea generation and innovation
- promotion and supporting entrepreneurship development
- intellectual property (IP) generation, technology transfer and commercialization
- innovative learning methods and courses
- innovations in the governance of the institution
ARIIA 2020 Highlights:
- The six categories in ARIIA 2020 are –
- centrally funded institutions,
- state-funded universities,
- state-funded autonomous institutions,
- private/deemed universities,
- private institutions.
- women only higher educational institutions
- IT-Madras has emerged as the best institute under the “institute of national importance” category.
- ARIIA 2020 has a special prize category for women only higher educational institutions for the first time.
- IIT-Mandi is first among the young IITs to get a rank.
- Around 674 Institutions have participated in the ARIIA Rankings this year.
