Complete details of the Electoral Bonds Data
The Supreme Court has recently declared the electoral bonds scheme unconstitutional. This is a landmark judgment of the Supreme Court.
The electoral bonds scheme opened the way to anonymous funding to the political parties and consolidated the role of money in the Indian political system.
The top court has decided to stop the issuance of electoral bonds and ordered the State Bank of India to disclose two sets of Information to the Election Commission of India within 21 days.
Facts behind:
The first detail sought by the Supreme Court is the complete details including the date of purchase, name of the purchaser and denomination of the electoral bonds purchased since 12th April 2019. The second detail was about the electoral bonds redeemed by the political parties at the same time frame.
Before the two days of the limit period SBI filed an affidavit stating the inability of the bank to decode the details of electoral bonds in the prescribed time period. The State Bank of India claimed that there was no central database for those electoral bonds. SBI further claimed the task would require a significant amount of effort and time due to the complications of the data; it would need around four more months to disclose the details. However the top court has rejected its appeal.

Conclusion:
There is no surprise that the Bank is not compliant with the directions of the Supreme Court and it intentionally hides the identity of the donors before the general election 2024, according to the view of the public. According to the Supreme Court it is the right of the Voters to know the information about financial contributions to a political party
