Exp.India, Singapore joint military exercise, ‘Bold Kurukshetra 2019’ began on April 8, 2019 at Babina Cantonment, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. This is the 12th edition of the exercise. The three-day exercise is being conducted to develop military technology, boost maritime security and bolster the nations’ fight against terrorism.

Exp.The Supreme Court on April 9, 2019 ruled that a woman, who fled her marital or matrimonial home due to cruelty of dowry harassment, can file a case of dowry harassment against her husband and in-laws from the place she has taken shelter under Section 498 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Exp.The Press Council of India has issued new guidelines, urging the media to do objective reporting on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and cautioning it against the phenomenon of paid news. Under the guidelines, while reporting on the actual campaign, a newspaper may not leave out any important point raised by a candidate and make an attack on his or her opponent.

Exp.President Ram Nath Kovind on April 9, 2019 launched ‘Veer Parivar App’, a mobile application for families of CRPF personnel killed in the line of duty. The application will act as an interface between the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) authorities and the next of kin of the slain personnel.

Exp.Kerala Congress (M) chairman and former state Finance Minister K M Mani, who had been one of the leading figures of Kerala politics for nearly five decades, passed away at a private hospital in Kerala on April 9, 2019. Mani had been an MLA from Kerala’s Pala assembly constituency for over five decades.
