Dehing Patkai Declared Assam’s 7th National Park

Assam government agreed to designate Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary as the state’s seventh national park. The Assam Valley’s “last remaining stretches” of tropical wet evergreen forests have been designated as the state’s seventh national park.

Ex-Mongolian prime minister Khurelsukh won presidential election

Former Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh became the country’s sixth democratically elected president on 9th June, further consolidating the power of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) with a landslide victory.
With 99.7% of votes counted overnight, Khurelsukh’s tally had reached 821,136, or 68% of the total, the largest share of the vote since the democratic era began in 1990.

India, Kuwait sign MoU for cooperation on recruitment of domestic workers

India and Kuwait have signed an MoU that brings Indian domestic workers in the Gulf nation within the ambit of a legal framework that streamlines their recruitment and provides them with the protection of the law.
Around one million (ten lakh) Indians reside in Kuwait. India is amongst the largest trading partners of Kuwait and the Gulf nation is a major supplier of oil to India.

DBS tops Forbes ‘World’s Best Banks’ list in India

DBS has been named by Forbes in their list of World’s Best Banks 2021. DBS was ranked #1 out of 30 domestic and international banks in India for the second consecutive year.
This is the third edition of the ‘World’s Best Banks’ list by Forbes, conducted in partnership with market research firm Statista.

ATM cash withdrawal rule changed

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has changed some rules regarding cash withdrawal from automated teller machine (ATM).

Free cash withdrawal limit from own bank: Bank customers can now do five free financial and non-financial transactions every month from their own bank ATMs.
Free ATM transaction limit from other bank: ATM card holders can do three free financial and non-financial transactions in metro centres while five in non-metro transaction from other bank ATMs
Charges on ATM cash withdrawal beyond free limit: RBI allowed banks to increase charges on ATM transactions beyond free ATM transaction limit.
Rise in interchange fee: Interchange fee per transaction changed from Rs 15 to Rs 17 for financial transactions while from Rs 5 to Rs 6 for non-financial transactions in effect from August 1, 2021.
New charges on ATM withdrawal beyond free transaction limit: Bank customer will have to pay Rs 21 (currently it is Rs 20) for each ATM cash withdrawal beyond free transaction limit in effect from January 1, 2022.

Icra projects GDP growth at 8.5% in FY22

The domestic credit rating agency ICRA has projected the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of India for the financial year 2021-22 to 8.5 per cent year-on-year.
It expects the gross value added (GVA) at basic prices (at constant 2011-12 prices) to grow at 7.3 per cent in FY2022.

Benedetto Vigna appoints as new CEO of Ferrari

Ferrari has named Benedetto Vigna as its new company CEO, taking over from interim chief John Elkann.
Vigna currently serves as the president of STMicroelectronics’ Analog, MEMS and Sensor Group, and is a member of the company’s executive committee. Ferrari S.p.A. is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy.

Sunil Chhetri overtakes Messi to become 2nd highest international goalscorer

Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri added another feather to his illustrious cap as he overtook Argentina star Lionel Messi to become the second-highest active international goalscorer. Chhetri achieved the feat when he struck a brace to help India defeat Bangladesh 2-0 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Chhetri has now scored 74 goals, two more than Messi, and is only behind Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo (103) in the list of active footballers with the most international goals. Ali Mabkhout is third on the list having scored 73 goals.

Asian Games gold medallist boxer N Dingko Singh passes away at 42

Asian Games gold medallist boxer Ngangom Dingko Singh passed away after prolonged illness at his residence at Sekta village in Manipur’s Imphal East district.
Legend boxer won gold medal at 1998 Asian Games Bangkok. He has been conferred country’s prestigious award- Padma Shri in 2013. He holds Arjuna Award also.

National award-winning Bengali Filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta Passes Away

The National award-winning eminent Bengali film Director Buddhadeb Dasgupta has passed away. He had won several National Awards for his contribution to Bengali cinema.
He was won National Awards for Best Film, National Film Awards for Best Direction, National Awards for Best Feature Film in Bengali, National Award for Best Arts/Cultural Film etc.
