‘Vocabulary’

  1. Fudging (verb)

Meaning: present or deal with (something) in a vague, noncommittal, or inadequate way, especially so as to conceal the truth or mislead. (हेरफेर)

Synonyms: evade, dodge, shuffle

Antonyms: clarifying, explaining, illustrating

Sentence: Fudging the numbers on an expense report might be considered fraud in some circles.

  1. Allocation (noun)

Meaning: the action or process of allocating or distributing something. (आवंटन)

Synonyms: allotment, assignment, issuing

Antonyms: disenfranchise, forfeit

Sentence: Inconsistency in the allocation of funds led to a negative balance in one account.

  1. Languish (verb)

Meaning: (of a person or other living thing) lose or lack vitality (दुर्बल)

Synonyms: weaken, deteriorate, fail

Antonyms: strengthen, powerful, strong

Sentence: Away from the sunlight, the plant will languish and eventually die.

  1. Juvenility (noun)

Meaning: youthfulness (जवानी)

Synonyms: youth, youthfulness, youngness

Antonyms: oldness, ripeness, adult

Sentence: He started to train when he was eight years old and during his juvenility, he earned many state and national titles.

  1. Persuasion (noun)

Meaning: the action or fact of persuading someone or of being persuaded to do or believe something. (प्रोत्साहन)

Synonyms: coaxing, convincing, encouragement

Antonyms: dissuasion, exclude

Sentence: After some persuasion, the boy went with him.

  1. Promulgate (verb)

Meaning: promote or make widely known (घोषणा करना)

Synonyms: make known, make public, publicize

Antonyms: silence, suppress, criticize

Sentence: The actor makes use of social media to promulgate the release of his film projects.

  1. Vandalism (noun)

Meaning: action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property. (बर्बरता)

Synonyms: malicious mischief, devastation, devilry

Antonyms: protection, saving, goodness

Sentence: Two teens were charged with vandalism after the spray-painted curse words on their elderly neighbor’s garage.

  1. Inoculate (verb)

Meaning: treat with a vaccine to produce immunity against a disease. (टीका लगाना)

Synonyms: immunize, vaccinate, inject

Antonyms: clear, empty, eject

Sentence: Before doctors were able to inoculate people with a polio vaccine, many people died from the disease.

  1. Cryogenic (adj.)

Meaning: relating to or involving the branch of physics that deals with the production and effects of very low temperatures. (तापमान कम करने वाला अथवा कम तापमान से संबंधित)

Synonyms: subfreezing, subzero, ultracold

Antonyms: blazing, boiling, warmed

Sentence: Ethane can be used as a refrigerant in cryogenic refrigeration systems

  1. Absurd (adj.)

Meaning: wildly unreasonable, illogical, or inappropriate. (बेतुका)

Synonyms: preposterous, ridiculous, foolish

Antonyms: meaningful, realistic, reasonable

Sentence: Spending the week in jail for stealing a loaf of bread is an absurd punishment for such a minor crime.
