Exp. Raja Parba- Odisha’s Famous Festival celebrated

Raja Parba festival has started being celebrated in Odisha on June 14, 2021. It is a 3-day festival that celebrates womanhood.

It is believed that, during this period Mother Earth menstruates and prepares herself for future agricultural activities as the monsoon arrives.

This festival is synonymous with varieties of cakes (pithas). Thus, Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has also launched a special programme named ‘Pitha on Wheels’. During 3 days, women don’t work.

Exp. India exports GI certified ‘Jardalu’ Mangoes to UK

Bihar exported the first commercial consignment of GI certified Jardalu mangoes from Bhagalpur to the United Kingdom. Jardalu mangoes from Bhagalpur district were given GI certification in 2018.

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, (APEDA) in collaboration with Bihar government, Indian High Commission & Invest India, exported Jardalu mangoes. Mangoes were packed and treated at APEDA packhouse in Lucknow.

Exp. India is 14th most charitable country, According to World Giving Index 2021

According to World Giving Index 2021 report, India is 14th most charitable country across the world. This report is released by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

India is up from the 10-year global rank of 82. Only Australia and New Zealand, where the survey was undertaken in the weeks before the first wave of the pandemic took hold, maintained their top 10 rankings.

Exp. 47th G7 Summit 2021

This year’s summit was hosted by the UK. The last G-7 summit was in France in 2019, with last year’s event in the US canceled due to the pandemic. Indian Prime Minister addressed the 47th G7 Summit 2021 through video conferencing.

Earlier, the Finance Ministers from the G7 nations reached a landmark accord setting a Global Minimum Corporate Tax Rate (GMCTR). Apart from India, Australia and South Korea were also invited to participate in the proceedings of the summit as “guest countries”.

Exp. New Zealand to launch World’s First Wooden Satellite

European Space Agency (ESA) will  launch world’s first wooden satellite called WISA Woodsat in Earth’s orbit by the end 2021. will be launched to test the applicability of wooden materials such as plywood in spacecraft structures. Mission will expose wooden materials to extreme space conditions like heat, cold, vacuum and radiation. Wooden satellite will be launched to space by end of 2021 with a Rocket Lab Electron rocket.

It will be launched from Mahia Peninsula launch complex in New Zealand. Satellite has been designed and built in Finland.

Exp. Bharti Airtel’s Ajai Puri re-elected as COAI chairman for 2021-22

Chief Operating Officer of Bharti Airtel, Ajai Puri has been re-elected as Chairman of the industry association for 2021-22.

Announcing the leadership for 2021-22, Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI) said that Pramod Kumar Mittal, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm, will continue as Vice Chairman of the association.

Exp. Cricketer Suresh Raina releases autobiography ‘Believe’

Former Indian batsman, Suresh Raina has released his autobiography ‘Believe – What Life and Cricket Taught Me’.

The book is co-authored by Bharat Sundaresan, Suresh Raina narrated the journey he has had for India and the golden word (Believe) from Sachin Tendulkar that he etched on his arm as a tattoo.

The day of 15th June is observed as Global Wind Day every year in order to create awareness about wind energy, the various uses of wind energy, and the ways and possibilities as to how wind energy can help change the world.

Wind energy has many advantages: it is cost-effective, it is a source of clean fuel and it is inexhaustible. India has a coastline of about 7,600 km and has good prospects of harnessing offshore wind energy.

Exp. Former Indian volleyball captain Nirmal Milkha Singh passes away

The former Indian women volleyball team captain Nirmal Milkha Kaur, who is the wife of sprint legend Milkha Singh (Flying Sikh), has passed away due to COVID-19 complications.

Nirmal Milkha Singh was also a former Director of Sports for Women in the Punjab Government.
