Nagaland police launched ‘Call your Cop’ mobile App for citizens

  • T John Longkumer, Director-General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, launched the Nagaland Police’s mobile app named ‘Call Your Cop’ at the Police headquarters (PHQ) in Kohima, Nagaland.
  • The app was developed by the Police Headquarters CID branch in collaboration with Excellogics Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd, Nagaland.
  • Aim: To enable all the citizens, especially those who are under stress, to get in touch with the police.

  • Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has formed a three-member committee to review the criteria for reservation for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category in terms of the provisions of the explanation to Article 15 of the Constitution.
  • Former Finance Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey will head the committee.

NITI Aayog committee released a report on Online Dispute Resolution; headed by Arjan Kumar Sikri

  • NITI Aayog has released a report on Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) titled as ‘Designing the future of dispute Resolution: the ODR Policy Plan for India’ to advance access to justice and ensure that cases do not end up before higher courts.
  • It recommends increasing digital infrastructure, building capacity, regulatory framework.
  • For the initiation of ODR, NITI Aayog constituted a committee in 2020 to formulate an action plan for ODR, headed by Justice (Retd) Arjan Kumar Sikri.

ADB approved $125 million loan for Uttarakhand water supply and sanitation projects

  • The Asian Development Bank approved a loan of $125 million (around Rs 938 crore) for water supply and sanitation projects in Uttarakhand.
  • The funds will be utilized to improve access to quality water supply and sanitation services to the entire population of about 154,000 people. About 17,410 households in Dehradun will be connected to the sewerage system.
  • Aim: To build cost-effective city-wide sanitation, wider-reach, and less water-dependent, and to engage the private sector in building the skills of concerned urban local bodies.

South Korea will build world’s first floating city by 2025

  • South Korea is soon going to get the world’s first floating city, to deal with the problem of floods due to rising sea levels.
  • The floating city project is a joint effort by the UN Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habit) and the city will be built off the coast of Busan in South Korea and is likely to be completed by 2025.

Government collected Rs 1.31 lakh crores as GST for November 2021

  • The gross GST revenue collected in the month of November 2021 is Rs 1,31,526 crore. The CGST was Rs 23,978 crore, SGST is Rs 31,127 crore. The IGST was Rs 66,815 crores (of this Rs 32,165 crores was collected from the goods imported). The cess collected was Rs 9,606 crores (This includes Rs 653 crores from the imported goods).
  • The GST revenue collected for the month of November is 25% higher than the GST revenue of November 2020. And is 27% higher than GST revenue collected in November 2019.

  • The rating agency, India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) expects India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the Second Quarter of Financial Year-2022 (Q2 FY22) at 3 percent and in FY22 at 9.4 percent.   
  • Workplace mobility in Q1 FY22 was 26 percent lower than the baseline and 16 percent lower year-on-year than the baseline at  The government’s capital expenditure (capex) grew 51.9 percent in Q2 FY22 as against 26.3 percent in Q2 FY21.

SBI signed MoU with Usha International for Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

  • State Bank of India has signed an MoU with Usha International Limited for empowering women entrepreneurs by providing financial assistance named ‘NAVCHETNA’ by SBI.
  • The financial assistance will be provided under the Joint Liability Group model. ‘NAVCHETNA’ makes women entrepreneurs self-reliant through the equal opportunity for financial growth and inclusion.
  • UIL has been providing necessary training to women through USHA Silai Schools across the country.

PNB will acquire 9.5% stake in ONDC Ltd

  • ONDC is yet to be incorporated by the Companies Act 2013. PNB will have 9.5 % equity capital in the ONDC or INR  25 crore, whichever is lower.

  • American publishing company Merriam-Webster has declared the word ‘Vaccine’ as its Word of the Year for 2021.
  • Vaccine word saw a 601% increase in definition lookups over the year, compared to 2020. The term ‘vaccine’ was used as an adjective in 1799 by British general practitioner Edward Jenner and vaccination was introduced by Richard Dunning in 1800.
