Kerala launch Smart Kitchen Scheme

Kerala launch Smart Kitchen Scheme

  • Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, announced a secretary level committee will formulate guidelines and recommendations on implementation of “Smart Kitchen Scheme” in state to fulfil commitments of LDF.
  • Smart Kitchen Scheme will be launched by July 10, 2021. Under the scheme, women of state will be given loan to refurbish their kitchen. Loan will be provided with a low-interest rate in instalment schemes. Scheme seeks to reduce workload of women’s domestic labour.

IFSCA constitutes an expert committee on Investment Funds headed by Nilesh Shah

  • The International Financial Services Centres Authority, IFSCA  has constituted an expert committee on Investment Funds.
  • The Committee under the Chairmanship of Nilesh Shah, Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Co. Ltd, will recommend the road map for the funds industry in the International Financial Service Centres, IFSCs. The Committee comprises leaders from the Fund Management sector.
  • The IFSCA has been established as a unified regulator to develop and regulate financial products, financial services and financial institutions in the IFSCs in India.
  • The Fund Industry has been playing a significant role in intermediating between seekers of capital and investors.

  • Amazon announced that Jassy, who is the current CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), would replace Jeff Bezos as CEO of the entire company in February.

Amartya Sen conferred Spain’s Top Award in Social Science

  • Indian economist and Nobel Laureate, Amartya Kumar Sen, was conferred with “Princess of Asturias Award” in social sciences category which is Spain’s top prize. He was selected out of 41 candidates from 20 countries.
  • Sen has been conferred which Spain’s highest prize in social science category for called “Princess of Asturias Award”. It comprises of a Joan Miro sculpture as a symbol, an insignia, a diploma, and a cash prize of 50,000 Euros. His candidature was forwarded by Director General of Casa Asia (Barcelona), Javier Parrondo.

Dr Nageshwar Reddy becomes first Indian to won Rudolf V Schindler award

  • Padma Bhushan awardee and noted gastroenterologist Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, who is also the chairman of AIG Hospitals, has won the Rudolf V Schindler Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
  • Rudolf V Schindler Award is the highest category in the prestigious Crystal Awards named after Dr Schindler who is considered as “the father of gastroscopy.”
  • Dr Reddy is one of the first to promote endoscopy in India and has led the charge of educating numerous endoscopists all over the world.


Defence Minister launches SeHAT OPD Portal

  • Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, has launched ‘Services e-Health Assistance & Tele-consultation (SeHAT) OPD Portal.
  • Portal has been launched to provide telemedicine services in Armed Forces, further strengthening the commitment governments towards e-governance and digital India. Through this OPD, serving defence personnel from Army, Airforce, Navy and ex- service personal can get tele consultations from specialists’ doctors in Armed forces. OPD will provide benefits to around four crore people and family members of defence personnel.

  • Bollywood actor Neena Gupta is all set to launch her autobiography “Sach Kahun Toh”, publisher Penguin Random House India. she wrote the book in 2020 during the lockdown.
  • The book addresses issues like casting couch, film industry politics, and also talks about what it takes for a young actor to survive without a godfather or guide.


Vir Chakra awardee Panjab Singh passes away

  • Colonel Panjab Singh, a hero of the Battle of Poonch during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, was cremated with full military honours under pandemic protocols after he passed away.
  • The retired officer, who was awarded the Vir Chakra, the third highest war-time gallantry award, died of post-Covid complications.
