Exp. Govt has announced scheme to provide pension for dependents of Covid victims. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government of India has announced two major measures for those families who have lost the earning member due to Covid, to mitigate financial difficulties that may be faced by them.

Firstly, the government have decided to provide family pension to such families and secondly, provide them with enhanced & liberalised insurance compensation.

Family Pension under Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC): Dependent family members of such persons will be entitled to get the benefit of a pension equivalent to 90% of the average daily wage drawn by the worker as per the existing norms. This benefit will be applicable with effect from 24 March 2020 till 24 March 2022.

Employees Provident Fund Organization- Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI): The amount of maximum insurance benefit has been increased from Rs 6 lakh to Rs. 7 lakh. The provision of minimum insurance benefit has been retained at Rs. 2.5 lakh. This benefit will apply retrospectively from 15 February 2020 for the next three years, that is 15 February 2022.

Exp. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a number of welfare measures for children who lost their parents to COVID-19.

Fixed Deposit in the name of the child: The total corpus of the fund will be Rs 10 lakh for each child. This corpus will be used to give a monthly financial support/ stipend when the child reaches 18 years of age, for the next five years to take care of his or her personal requirements. Upon reaching the age of 23 years, the child will get the corpus amount as one lump sum for personal and professional use.

Education: Children under 10 years will be given admission to the nearest Kendriya Vidyalaya or in a private school as a day scholar. Children between 11-18 years of age will be given admission to any central government residential school such as Sainik School and Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Health Insurance: Each child will be enrolled as a beneficiary under Ayushman Bharat Scheme (PM-JAY) with a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. The premium amount for these children will be paid by PM CARES, till they attain the age of 18 years.

Exp. Fiscal deficit for 2020-21 was at 9.3 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP), lower than 9.5 per cent estimated by the Finance Ministry in the revised Budget estimates, according to the CGA data.

The government in the revised estimates in the Budget for 2021-22 forecast a higher fiscal deficit of 9.5 per cent of the GDP or Rs 18,48,655 crore for the fiscal ended in March due to a rise in expenditure on account of the outbreak of COVID-19 and moderation in revenue during this fiscal year.

Exp. Director-General of Central Reserve Police Force, Kuldiep Singh has been given additional charge of Director General of National Investigation Agency, NIA.

He will hold the additional post after 31st or this month after the superannuation of Y C Modi. He has been appointed as DG, CRPF up to September 30, 2022–the date of his superannuation.

Exp. Cricket legend, commentator and one of Team India’s most successful coaches, Ravi Shastri has penned a book titled ‘Stargazing: The Players in My Life’. The news was announced by publisher HarperCollins India on Ravi Shastri’s birthday on May 27, 2021.

In ‘Stargazing: The Players in My Life’, Shastri writes about some 60 extraordinary talents he has met from across the world who have inspired him. The book is co-authored by Shastri and Ayaz Memon.
