Singapore, the USA, Mauritius, Netherlands and Switzerland have emerged as the top 5 countries for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into India in FY2021-22.
Singapore has emerged as the top sourcing nation with a contribution of 27.01 percent, followed by the USA at 17.94 percent.
Mauritius, The Netherlands and Switzerland follow the top two nations with contributions standing at 15.98 percent, 7.86 percent and 7.31 percent respectively.
While among the states, Karnataka led the pack in with a share of 37.55 percent of the total FDI inflow in FY22, followed by neighbouring state Maharashtra at 26.26 percent and national capital Delhi at 13.93 percent.
India has improved one position to 7th rank among the top 20 host economies for 2021, as per the UNCTAD World Investment Report 2022.
FDI equity inflow in manufacturing sectors has risen by 76% in FY 22 at USD 21.34 billion as compared with the previous fiscal at USD 12.09 billion.

The Gujarat government has announced a dedicated ‘Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022-27.
With this, Gujarat has become the first state in the country to have a dedicated semiconductor policy.
This new policy offers a slew of incentives and subsidies to manufacture semiconductors.
Under the policy, the state government will set up ‘Dholera Semicon City’ near Ahmedabad where eligible projects will be given subsidy for setting up manufacturing units.
At the facility, eligible projects will be given 75 percent subsidy on purchase of first 200 acres of land for setting up manufacturing units.
The eligible manufacturing units would also get power tariff subsidy of Rs 2 per unit for the first 10 years of going into production.
To encourage investors under the policy, the state government has also announced to reimburse 100 percent of stamp duty which investors would pay for the first time for taking land on lease or on land transfer.
The policy has been designed in line with the Centre’s India Semiconductor Mission. The policy would generate two lakh new jobs in the semiconductor sector during the next five years in the state.

Exp. PM Modi launched Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Power Ministry’s flagship Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
Modi unveiled the scheme during a program marking the culmination of ‘Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047’.
The scheme aims at improving the operational efficiencies and financial sustainability of the Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) and power departments.
It has an outlay of over 3 lakh crore rupees over a period of five years from Financial Year 2021-22 to 2025-26.
Modi also lay the foundation stone of various green energy projects of NTPC worth over Rs 5,200 crore.

The project will be implemented in phases. In the experimental phase, it will produce 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, through a 150-megawatt electrolysis device that provides 570 megawatts of renewable energy to produce 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.

International Tiger Day is celebrated annually on 29 July.
Objective – To make people aware of the dangers & problems faced by tigers around the globe.
The decision to recognize this day was taken in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia. The representatives from around 13 countries announced that the tiger-populated countries would take steps to double the tiger population by 2022.
In 1973, Project Tiger was launched in India with a unique plan to save tigers on the planet. Since its formative years, there were 9 tiger reserves but the Tiger Project coverage has increased significantly over time.
A conservation goal that was so ambitious was set up by the governments of the 13 range countries to double the number of wild tigers by this year.
As per the World Wildlife Fund, there are only 3900 wild tigers present around the globe.
