Goa CM launched Purple Fest logo
- Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has launched the logo of Purple Fest at a function held in Manohar Parrikar Memorial Hall of Sanjay Centre for Education, Porvorim.
- The event will be organized from January 6 to 8 next year in Panaji.
- The event will be jointly organized by the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Goa, in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare and Entertainment Society of Goa.
- This first-of-its-kind festival will benefit persons with disabilities.

Haryana Government launched TOFI Programme
- The Haryana Forest Department and US Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the “Trees Outside Forests in India (TOFI)” program in the state.
- The “Trees Outside Forests in India” program will enhance carbon sequestration, support local communities, and strengthen the climate resilience of agriculture.
- This initiative will bring farmers, companies, and other private institutions together to rapidly expand tree coverage outside of traditional forests in the state.
- This will enhance carbon sequestration, and support local communities.

World’s First Vedic Clock to be installed in Ujjain
- The world’s first Vedic Clock will be installed in Ujjain – the city of Lord Malakal.
- The foundation stone at the 300-year-old Jiwaji Observatory in Ujjain for this mega project is being taken up by the state government at an estimated cost of Rs 1.62 crore.
- The observatory was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Raja Jaisingh of Jaipur in 1719.
- The Vedic clock will be synced with the position of the Sun and also with the sunrise and sunset timings at different places across the world.
- The citizens will be able to access the Vedic clock through their smartphones, computers, and TVs.
Cochin Shipyard partnered with IIT-Madras to support maritime startups
- The Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have signed an agreement to support startups in the maritime sector.
- Objective – To develop products or services with financial support from the shipyard.
- Under this initiative, startups can get up to Rs 50 lakhs as seed grants and Rs one crore as prototyping grants. There will be equity funding for startups at the scale-up stage.

IIT-Hyderabad developed affordable fibre-reinforced concrete
- IIT-Hyderabad has developed an affordable Ultra-High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) for bridge and other infrastructure applications.
- The cost of UHPFRC was brought down and made affordable by reducing the quantity of cement, fibres and replacing costly fine aggregates with cheaper locally available ones through proper gradation.
- The composition combines the best features of self-consolidating concrete (SCC), fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) and high-performance concrete (HPC).
- The cost of UHPFRC developed at IIT-H is about two times cheaper than commercially available proprietary products.
- UHPFRC developed at IIT-H for pre-stressing applications yields a cube compressive strength of 150 MPa and a direct tensile strength of 8.0 MPa.
- The aim is to develop affordable ultra-high-performance concrete using locally available materials and do a thorough material categorization to understand the behaviour of UHPFRC in compression, tension, fracture, and direct shear.
PM Modi unveiled the logo, theme, website of India’s G20 Presidency
- PM Narendra Modi has unveiled the logo, theme, and website of India’s G20 Presidency.
- The logo, theme, and website will reflect India’s message and overarching priorities to the world.
- The G20 logo, created with the four colours of India’s national flag, comprises of earth sitting atop a lotus. The seven petals in the logo signify the seven seas and the coming together of seven continents at G20 India 2023.
- The earth reflects India’s pro-planet approach to life and from this, it derives the theme of G20 India 2023 – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future.
- India will assume G20 Presidency from 1 December 2022.
- G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation representing around 85% of the global GDP, and over 75% of the global trade.

Prof. Kishor Basa appointed as Chairman of National Monuments Authority
- Vice-chancellor of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Kishor Kumar Basa has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Monuments Authority (NMA) for three years.
- He is also the chairman of the Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA). He was the Tagore National Fellow, ministry of culture, during 2019-20.
- He has also served as Vice Chancellor of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore.

Justice DY Chandrachud takes oath as 50th CJI
- Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant (DY) Chandrachud took oath as the 50th Chief Justice of India (CJI).
- He will have a tenure of two years as CJI and demit office on November 10, 2024.
- President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office of the CJI to Justice Chandrachud at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- Son of 16th CJI Yeshwant Vishnu Chandrachud, DY Chandrachud was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court on May 13, 2016.
- Justice Chandrachud succeeds Justice UU Lalit, who demitted office on November 8, after a brief tenure of 74 days. The Supreme Court judges retire at the age of 65.

NSA Ajit Doval & Late Bipin Rawat awarded Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman 2022
- National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Late Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat among five distinguished people have been selected for the “Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman 2022”.
- Others to be conferred the award are Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification Prasoon Joshi (Chairperson of CBFC), Late Girish Chandra Tiwari ‘Girda’ (Lyricist), and Late Viren Dangwal (Poet).
- The Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman is one of the two highest civilian awards of the state along with the Uttarakhand Ratna.
- It is awarded to a person for their extraordinary contribution to any field of human endeavour.
- The award was constituted in 2021 by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It was constituted on November 9, 2021, on the occasion of the state’s 21st anniversary.

- International Week of Science and Peace is observed every year on November 9 to November 14.

- International Week of Science and Peace was first observed in 1986 on 10th November in light of the celebration of the International Year of Peace.
9 November – Uttarakhand Foundation Day
- Uttarakhand Foundation Day is formally celebrated on November 9 every year and marks the formation of the north Indian state.
- Uttarakhand is the 27th state of India and was known as Uttaranchal till 2007.
- Uttarakhand did not come into existence with India’s independence. It is one of the newer states that was created under the Uttar Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2000.
- The then-president, K. R. Narayanan, approved the bill on August 28, 2000, which later turned into an act. Finally, on January 1, 2007, Uttaranchal was officially renamed Uttarakhand.
- Uttarakhand is also known as the “Land of Gods” and is a tourist favourite, both from within India and abroad.
- The state boasts rich natural resources such as picturesque glaciers, rivers, and snow-clad peaks.
- The place also hosts one of the most sacred Hindu sites in the country known as Char Dham – the four shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
9 November – National Legal Services Day
- National Legal Services Day is observed on November 9 every year to commemorate the commencement of Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
- This act came into force on the same day in 1995.
- Objective – To assist and provide free legal help and support to the weaker sections of society.
- On September 12, 1998, the First Annual Meet of the State Legal Services Authorities (NALSA) was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
