The government has launched a unique Face Recognition Technology for bringing ease of living to Pensioners of the retired and the elderly citizens.

The technology has been launched by Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh. He said at the inaugural event that, face Recognition Technique of giving Life Certificate is a historic and very important reform, since it will relate the lives of not only 68 lakh central government pensioners but also crores of pensioners who does not come under the jurisdiction of this Department such as Employees` Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), State Government Pensioners etc.

Development of face recognition technology:

The National Informatics Center, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as well as Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) have included in making this technology.

The government of India has always looked for “ease of living” for all sections of society including the retirees and pensioners who are the assets for the country due to their vast experience and long years of service delivered by them.

The Minister said that the Department of Pension has been using technology widespread to attain this goal. It has been a successful step to be introduction of Digital Life Certificate, introduction of intelligent common software “Bhavishya” for all Government of India Ministries for processing Pension cases.

The attempt for issuing Electronic PPOs and driving the same in Digi locker is an immense step towards Ease of Living and transparency. The Department has also been publishing e-booklets for Pensioner awareness and implementing an Awareness campaign on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media.

There is a best resource base for development of technology is at the behest of the Prime Minister who started a portal entitled “Anubhav” to present the experiences in Government of retiring officials.

The Department is not only introducing the concept of Pension Adalats but also furnished technology to hold digital Adalats through video-conferencing.
