Hanta Virus: All you need to know about the virus

Even as the coronavirus natural event takes the globe by storm, variety of different diseases are rearing their ugly heads. Cases of contagious disease|swine influenza|influenza|flu|grippe} and bird flu have already been rumored in India and different countries.

Now, a person from China has tested positive for hantavirus. China’s world Times tweeted that the person from province died whereas on his means back to Shandong Province for work on a bus on Monday. The 32 others on the bus were additionally tested for the virus. 

♦What is hantavirus?

• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that hantaviruses are a family of viruses which is transmitted mainly by rodents and can show varied disease syndrome in people. The name of hantavirus varies depending on the region. In America, it is known as “New World” hantaviruses, while in Europe and Asia, it is known as “Old World” hantaviruses.
• New World hantaviruses may cause hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), while Old World hantavirus may cause hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS).

♦Symptoms of hantaviruses

• Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome: Early symptoms of HPS include fatigue, fever and muscle aches, especially in thighs, hips, back, and sometimes shoulders. An infected person may also experience headaches, dizziness, chills, and abdominal problems. In case of late symptoms, usually after four to 10 days, one may show coughing and shortness of breath. It can be fatal too in some cases.
• Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome: In case of HFRS, symptoms develop within one to two weeks after coming in contact with the virus. But in rare cases, it may take up to eight weeks to show symptoms. Initial symptoms include intense headaches, back and abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, and blurred vision. On the other hand, late symptoms are low blood pressure, acute shock, vascular leakage, and acute kidney failure.

♦Hanta virus is deadly?

• According to the CDC, the hysteria is fatal. The death toll of this related rule is 38 percent. This case of hantavirus in China has come at a time when the whole world is struggling with an epidemic of coronavirus originating from Wuhan. So far 16 thousand 500 people have died from coronavirus. Not only this, 382,824 people of the world have suffered from coronavirus. Coronavirus summarization can be gauged from the fact that the virus has now spread to 196 countries.

जानें, क्या है हंता वायरस

विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि कोरोना वायरस की तरह से हंता वायरस घातक नहीं है। कोरोना के व‍िपरीत यह हवा के रास्‍ते नहीं फैलता है। यह चूहे या गिलहरी के संपर्क में इंसान के आने से फैलता है। सेंटर फॉर डिजिज कंट्रोल एंड प्रिवेंशन के मुताबिक, ‘चूहों के घर के अंदर और बाहर करने से हंता वायरस के संक्रमण का खतरा रहता है। यहां तक कि अगर कोई स्‍वस्‍थ व्‍यक्ति भी है और वह हंता वायरस के संपर्क में आता है तो उसके संक्रमित होने का खतरा रहता है।’

हंता के लक्षण

हालांकि हंता वायरस एक व्‍यक्ति से दूसरे व्‍यक्ति में नहीं जाता है लेकिन यदि कोई व्‍यक्ति चूहों के मल, पेशाब आदि को छूने के बाद अपनी आंख, नाक और मुंह को छूता है तो उसके हंता वायरस से संक्रमित होने का खतरा बढ़ जाता है। इस वायरस से संक्रमित होने पर इंसान को बुखार, सिर दर्द, शरीर में दर्द, पेट में दर्द, उल्‍टी, डायरिया आदि हो जाता है। अगर इलाज में देरी होती है तो संक्रमित इंसान के फेफड़े में पानी भी भर जाता है, उसे सांस लेने में परेशानी होती है।

हंता वायरस जानलेवा है?

सीडीसी के मुताबिक हंता वायरस जानलेवा है। इससे संक्रमित व्‍यक्तियों के मरने का आंकड़ा 38 प्रतिशत है। चीन में हंता वायरस का यह मामला ऐसे समय पर आया है जब पूरी दुनिया वुहान से निकले कोरोना वायरस की महामारी से जूझ रही है। कोरोना वायरस से अब तक 16 हजार 500 लोगों की मौत हो गई है। यही नहीं अब तक दुनिया के 382,824 लोग कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित हो चुके हैं। कोरोना वायरस की व्‍यापकता का अंदाजा इस बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि यह वायरस अब 196 देशों में फैल चुका है।
