10-16 January Startup India Innovation Week The virtual event will be organised from January 10 to January 16, 2022. The event also aims to commemorate the 75th year of India’s independence ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
9 January Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Day or Pravasi Bharatiya Divas To mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community towards the development of India. This day also commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9 January, 1915.
10 January World Hindi Day To promote the use of the Hindi language worldwide. The day also marks the anniversary of the World Hindi Conference, which was held for the first time in the year 1975.
11 January National Human Trafficking Awareness Day In 2007, the United States Senate ratified the resolution establishing January 11th as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. In 2010, President Obama dedicated the entire month of January to awareness and prevention of human trafficking.

14 January Indian Armed Forces Veterans Day 6th Indian Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated on 14 January(1st – 2017) as a recognition of the services rendered by the first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, OBE who retired on 14 Jan 1953.
15 January Indian Army Day To commemorate the day when General (later Field Marshal) KM Carriappa took over the command of the Army from General Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief in 1949.

16 January, 2022 1st National Startup Day In 2022, the National Startup Day is celebrated on six themes: ‘Growing from Roots’; ‘Nudging the DNA’; ‘From Local to Global’; ‘Technology of Future’; ‘Building Champions in Manufacturing’; and ‘Sustainable Development.’
19 January NDRF Raising Day In 2022, the NDRF is observing its 17th Raising Day. NDRF is an Indian specialized force under the National Disaster Management Authority, constituted under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to carry out the special responses in situations of threatening disaster.

19 January Tripura celebrated 44th Kokborok Day Aim: To develop the Kokborok Language.
10-17 January DAY-NRLM celebrated Agri Nutri Garden Week Aim: To support rural poor households to have Agri Nutri Garden to fulfil the need of the family’s nutrition and any excess production can also be sold for income generation.
21 January Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura Statehood Day The princely states of Manipur and Tripura were joined with India in 1949. They were then granted the union territory status. In 1972, Meghalaya and Tripura were granted complete statehood. The states were formed under the North Eastern Region (Re-organization) Act, 1971.
23 January Parakram Diwas To commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The central government has decided to start the Republic Day celebrations from January 23 to include Bose’s anniversary, which will be celebrated as ‘Parakram Diwas’ (day of valour) starting this year.

24 January International Day of Education Theme 2022: Changing Course, Transforming Education. 
24 January National Girl Child Day The day aims to focus on the inequalities faced by girls, to promote the education, health & nutrition of the girl child, and to spread awareness about the rights of a girl child.

NOTE: This year, Ministry of Culture is organising an event called ‘Umang Rangoli Utsav’, as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

30 January Martyrs’ Day or Shaheed Diwas It is observed every year on January 30 in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated by Nathuram Godse at Gandhi Smriti in the Birla House by Nathuram Godse in 1948.

NOTE: Martyrs’ Day is also observed in India on March 23 to pay respect to Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, who was hanged death on this day in 1931.’
