Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the celebrations of the 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Red Fort in New Delhi yesterday. The Prime Minister also issued a commemorative coin and postage stamp on this occasion. Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were also gave their presence on this occasion.
Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji:
Born: 1 April, 1621 in Punjab
Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji is the 9th Guru of Sikh religion. He was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind who is the 6th Sikh Guru. Guru Tegh Bahadur was executed on the orders of Aurangzeb, the sixth Mughal emperor, in Delhi.
Remembering the contributions made by ten Sikh Gurus, the Prime Minister stated that all Sikh Gurus has built power a medium of service. Guru Nanak Dev Ji has united the whole of India in one thread. This occasion is celebrated at the Red Fort because it has been a witness to many important periods and it has also seen the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Mr. Modi pointed out the religious fanaticism during the period of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb at that time when a storm of religious fanaticism in the country. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stood like a rock in front of Aurangzeb’s tyrannical thinking at that time.
The sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji has revolutionized many generations of the country to live and die to defend the dignity of their culture, for its honor and respect. The big powers have vanished, great storms have calmed down, but India still stands immortal and moving forward.
The Prime Minister aforesaid the government of India is continuously making its efforts to connect the pilgrimages of Sikh tradition. The government determined last year to celebrate Veer Bal Diwas on 26th December in memory of the great sacrifice made by the Sahibzadas.
