India & USA virtual summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden talked about ways to heighten India-US relationship across sectors and exchanged views on global issues including the Russia-Ukraine situation at a virtual summit yesterday (i.e.11-04-2022). PM Modi underlined on dialogue as the way forward to resolving the crisis.

Discussion on various issues:

The two leaders had a broad exchange of views on several regional and global issues which are as follows: the Covid-19 pandemic, global economic recovery, climate action, recent developments in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific region, and the situation in Ukraine.

The presence of Defence minister Rajnath Singh and external affairs minister S Jaishankar were also seen during the interaction.

Security Challenges:

Rajnath Singh and S. Jaishankar reached in Washington DC for the 2+2 ministerial dialogue. Interaction between their US counterparts, secretary of defence Lloyd Austin and secretary of state Antony Blinken, were done at the White House.

Russia-Ukraine crisis:

Both leaders of US and India, Biden and Modi concerned to the humanitarian situation in Ukraine in their opening remarks. The PM recalled his suggestion to Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold a direct dialogue with the Ukrainian President, the later closed-door meet did not evidence any significant discussion on the Russia-Ukraine war or any difference of opinion on Russia.

PM Modi condemning on his opening remarks that the civilian killings in Bucha in Ukraine, called for an unprejudiced probe into the incident.

India has already sent medicines and other relief material to Ukraine and other neighboring nations.

PM Modi gave 5 T’s:

PM Modi specified the forms of India-US ties through five T’s — Tradition, Talent, Technology, Trade, Trusteeship.

India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership:

It was conducted ahead of the so-called 2+2 meeting of the foreign and defence ministers of the two sides. Both the leaders are given their node to make strong the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership which would be of tremendous benefit to the two countries and it would also lead to global peace, prosperity and stability.
