ISRO launched 36 satellites from Sriharikota

Indian Space Research Organisation has made history again as it launched 36 satellites in low earth orbit from Sriharikota. It is second commercial launch that has placed 36 OneWeb satellites in orbit after completing the first-generation constellation enabling the UK-based company to initiate global coverage this year.

The latest launching mission is the sixth for India’s heaviest rocket LVM 3.

Launching of 36 satellites:

The 36 satellites have been just put into orbits in nine batches of four satellites each. The total weight of these 36 satellites was 5,805 kg.
Indian ground stations could not have their eyes on the craft over the other five batches were injected into orbit.

Challenge for this mission:

The satellites have been launched to a lower 450-km circular orbit in the current mission against the 600-km orbit during previous missions.

Even the satellites were launched at a higher velocity, so it is a challenge for the mission over separation of satellites that has to be sequenced in such a way that the satellites do not crash into each other.

Satellites of One Web company:

The latest mission is the second launch of ISRO that is has done for the United Kingdom-based company named ‘One Web’. The company is backed by the government of UK and Indian telecom major Bharti Airtel.
The company has a plan to use 588 active satellites with placement in 12 rings of 49 satellites each with every satellite completing a full trip around the earth in 109 minutes.
Company has an aim to provide high speed, low-latency global connectivity.
One Web satellites has completed third mission this year and eighteenth in total with this launch.
