Major events in Gujarat
Gujarat Election 2022:
The Election Commission of India has already declared the schedule for Legislative Assembly election for Gujarat.
The Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held from 1 to 5 December 2022 in two phases and then after counting and declaration of result will be on 8th December 2022.
The election is going to be held for electing 182 members of 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

Morbi suspension bridge:
In Gujarat’s morbid, a pedestrian suspension bridge over the Machchhu River in the city collapsed which causing the deaths of at least 135 people and injuries to more than 180 others.
It is the 19th-century bridge which had been reopened five days earlier, in time for Diwali and the Gujarati New Year, following a lengthy closure for repairs.
In causalities a large number of the victims were teenagers, women, and elderly, including 34 children.
The government of Gujarat has declared an ex gratia payment of ₹4 lakh (US$5,000) to the next of kin of each person who died, and ₹50,000 (US$630) to the injured.
Development projects in Gujarat:
In recent times there are number of development projects have been either inaugurated or projected in Gujarat.
Prime Minister has inaugurated and lay foundation stone of various development projects worth around ₹29,000 crores in programmes spread across Surat, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad and Ambaji.
The projects directed to develop world-class infrastructure, enhance mobility and significantly improve ease of living.
World’s first CNG terminal in Gujarat:
PM Narendra Modi has laid foundation stone of World’s First CNG Terminal at Bhavnagar.
It is the biggest and largest in its kind where around development works worth Rs. 5200 crore which might be change the region of this area with world class facilities, opportunities and growth.
DREAM City project:
Prime Minister has inaugurated Phase I of DREAM City project in Surat, Gujarat. This project is designed to complement the rapid growth of diamond trading business in Surat.
The foundations stone has also lay down and dedicated to the nation including the projects related to urban regeneration, a Biodiversity park, a science centre and Phase-2 of DREAM City.
Atal bridge in Ahmedabad:
The inauguration of the iconic foot-over bridge had also been done by PM Narendra Modi. The iconic foot- over bridge is built between Ellis Bridge and Sardar Bridge near Sabarmati Riverfront of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The 300-metre bridge is connecting the east and west side of the Sabarmati Riverfront that is located in heart of Ahmedabad. Atal bridge and Atal foot-over bridge name is given to this newly iconic project.
The bridge is currently providing connectivity to Multi Level Car Parking and various public development on East and West Bank from plaza between Flower Park and Event Ground at West Bank to proposed Art / Cultural / Exhibition Centre on East Bank.
As India celebrated its 75 years of Independence in August 2022, Ahmedabad’s famous tourist hotspot Sabarmati Riverfront also completed a decade.
Gujarat host first time (36th) National Games:
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi had opened the 36th National Games at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
As Gujarat has hosted 36th National Games, it becomes the first time host for India’s flagship sporting event national games.
The Prime Minister had also inaugurated the world-class “Swarnim Gujarat Sports University” in Desar.
