National Crime Records Bureau Report on Various Crimes
The National Crime Records Bureau has released a report which has data related to the various crime statistics across the country during 2021. Whereas Delhi has been reported as the most unsafe city and in Rajasthan, the most number of rape cases was reported. Crime against women across the country has been recorded 15.3% high. In today’s article we are going to discuss some more important insights of this report.
Crime against women:
In this segment we are losing because the number of crimes which occurred against women during the last year rose to 15.3 %. Delhi is the most unsafe metropolitan area for women and Rajasthan reported the highest number of rape cases. From the majority of the crimes against women it was found that 31.8% cases were registered under “cruelty by relatives or husband” ,21.8% cases were “assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty”. Kidnapping accounted for 17.5% cases and 7.4% were of rapes.
With 56,083 cases,Uttar Pradesh topped in the list of crimes against women followed by Rajasthan and Maharashtra on second and third position respectively.
According to the NCRB data,if we talk about the North-eastern states then Nagaland records the lowest number of crimes against women with 5.5% rate in 2021 which was very less as compared to other states. The northeastern states also had the lowest number of actual cases(54) in 2021.
Now let’s take a look at our national capital Delhi,which is known for being the most unsafe metropolitan city for women. NCRB data shows that Delhi accounted for the highest rate of crimes against women in 2021 among the Union territories.The National capital recorded 13,892 cases against women in 2021.Crimes against women in Delhi accounted for 32.20 per cent of total crimes in the 19 metropolitan cities, followed by Mumbai (12.76 per cent) and Bengaluru (7.2 per cent).
Maharashtra tops list in the suicide statistics:
The latest NCRB report shows that India reported 1,64,033 suicide cases in 2021, with Maharashtra (22,207) topping the list followed by Tamil Nadu (18,925), Madhya Pradesh (14,965) and West Bengal (13,500).
As per the NCRB report, among the top causes of suicides in India, most were associated with career, loneliness, abuse, violence, familial disputes, mental illness, alcoholism, financial loss, and chronic pain.
1.73 lakh people gave up their lives in traffic accidents.
As per the NCRB report, Around 4,22,659 traffic accidents were reported in the country which killed 1.73 lakh people from which Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of deaths (24,711) in traffic accidents.
In 2021, 4,03,116 road accidents across the nation took the life of 1,55,622 people.
Most UAPA cases are recorded in Jammu & Kashmir.
According to the latest NCRB report,Jammu and Kashmir registered the most Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) cases under the ‘special and local laws’ in 2021.
J&K lodged 289 cases last year out of 814 total UAPA cases all over India followed by Manipur (157), Assam (95), Jharkhand (86) and Uttar Pradesh (83).
Jharkhand reports most communal riots.
As per NCRB report,Jharkhand filed the highest cases of communal riots last year with 100 followed by Maharashtra with 77 cases.
In Bihar,most of the communal riots were of caste conflict with a total 743 registered cases.
