Ten persons of different age are sitting in two rows. Persons sitting in row 1 are facing North and persons sitting in row 2 are facing South. Persons sitting in row 1 are facing the persons sitting in row 2. Ages are integers only.
Sum of the age of P and Y is 61. T sits 2nd to the right of the person who faces S who is youngest person. Two persons sit between S and P who sits at extreme end. R whose age is 15 sits at middle of the row. Three persons are sitting between oldest person and W who faces P. Average of the age of S, U and W is 9 and the age of all of three is in Arithmetic Progression (AP). Difference between the age of V and S is 11. V is 4 years elder than R and sits 2nd to the right of R. T’s age is three times than U and faces South. Person whose age is 12 sits immediate left of X. Two persons sit between the persons whose age are 9 and 12. Difference between the age of Y and P is 19. Q sits immediate left of the person who is 8 years younger than T.

‘P # Q’ means ‘P is neither greater than nor equal to Q’
‘P&Q means “P is neither greater than nor smaller than Q’
‘P *Q’ means ‘P is not greater than Q’
Now, in each of the following questions assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the four conclusions I, II, III and IV is/are definitely true and give your answer accordingly.

Q10. Which of the following will be definitely true if the given expression A≥B≥C=D<E=F<J≤P is definitely true?
1. A < D
2. B > E
3. P > C
4. B ≥ F
5. A < P

Solutions

Sol. (1 -5):
T sits 2nd to the right of the person who faces S who is youngest person. Two persons sit between S and P who sits at extreme end. R whose age is 15 sits at middle of the row. Three persons are sitting between oldest person and W who faces P. Difference between the age of V and S is 11. V is 4 years elder than R and sits 2nd to the right of R. So, Age of V and S is 19 and 8 respectively. Average of the age of S, U and W is 9 and the age of all of three is in Arithmetic Progression (AP). S is youngest and two persons sit between the persons whose age are 9 and 12. So, age of U and W will be 10 and 9 respectively. Here, we get two possibilities i.e. Case 1 and Case 2.

T’s age is three times than U and faces South. Here, Case 2 is ruled out. Q sits immediate left of the person who is 8 years younger than T. Person whose age is 12 sits immediate left of X. Sum of the age of P and Y is 61. Difference between the age of Y and P is 19. So, Age of Y and P will be 40 and 21 respectively. So, the final arrangement will be: –

Q7. Ans(4)
Q8. Ans(1)
Q9. Ans(5)
Q10. Ans(3)
