  • In a message marking the 12-day war of June 2025, Mr. Ghalibaf said that the first, second and third imposed wars had shown the world that victory comes through determination, resistance and sacrifice.
  • Earlier on Wednesday, Mr. Trump warned that Iran would have to face the consequences for taking too long to negotiate a deal.
  • The warning came after the United States carried out air strikes on Iranian targets.
  • In a post on social media, Mr. Trump claimed that Iran’s military was in complete disorder.
  • He said that much of Iran’s military strength, including large parts of its Navy and Air Force, had been destroyed and no longer existed in an effective form.

  • According to a statement issued by the U.S. Central Command (Centcom), American forces attacked Iranian air defence systems, control stations and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz using precision-guided weapons.
  • Centcom described the operation as a proportional response to recent attacks on U.S. forces and international commercial ships passing through the region.
  • Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that S. strikes destroyed two reservoirs in Bamani Sirik.
  • According to Press TV, the attack disrupted drinking water supplies for around 20,000 people.
  • Iran neither confirmed nor denied reports that it had shot down the American helicopter.
  • However, Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on American military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
  • Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that in response to military aggression and violations of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the country’s armed forces had attacked U.S. bases and assets in the region from where the attacks had originated.
  • The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that the targets included the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, and Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
  • The IRGC also claimed that it had shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone over the city of Jam in Bushehr province.
  • The latest exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran came after a similar exchange of fire between Iran and Israel earlier in the same week.
  • Iran launched missiles at Israel in what was described as the first direct attack on Israel since the ceasefire announced on April 8.
  • Tehran said that the missile attack was carried out in response to Israeli strikes on Beirut in Lebanon.
  • Israel later responded with its own air strikes.
  • During that period, Trump urged both sides to stop attacking each other.
  • He also said that the United States and Iran were close to reaching an agreement.

  • The information was provided by Manoj Yadav, General Secretary of the Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI).
  • The Centre had earlier said that all three crew members were missing.
  • Manoj Yadav identified the deceased as Aditya Sharma (Deck Cadet) and Shivanand Chaurasiya (Engine Fitter).
  • Chief Engineer Patnala Suresh is still missing.
  • A total of 21 Indian seafarers were rescued from the vessel after it was hit by U.S. precision-guided weapons.
  • According to the U.S. Central Command (Centcom), the ship had violated the blockade on Iranian ports by attempting to transport oil from Iran.
  • Centcom said that it had disabled the Palau-flagged tanker M/T Settebello while it was travelling through the Gulf of Oman.
  • According to Centcom, a U.S. aircraft fired precision munitions into the vessel’s engine room after the crew repeatedly failed to follow directions issued by American forces.
  • Centcom also shared a video of the strike on X.
  • India summoned Jason Meeks, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, and lodged a strong protest over the incident.
  • The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the Indian Embassy in Oman was closely monitoring the situation and was coordinating with Omani authorities in the ongoing search-and-rescue operation.
  • The attack took place just two days after U.S. forces struck another oil tanker, Marivex, off the coast of Oman.
  • Twenty-four Indian sailors were rescued from Marivex.
  • Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued an alert regarding an incident 20 nautical miles northeast of Sohar, Oman.
  • UKMTO said local authorities had informed it that a tanker had suffered a fire in its engine room and rescue teams were helping evacuate the crew.
  • The vessel reported one death and two crew members missing.
  • UKMTO stated that no environmental damage had been reported.
  • Authorities continued to investigate the incident.
  • Maritime intelligence website Lloyd’s List reported that the tanker was one of several vessels that had recently been waiting off Duqm, Oman.
  • The report added that these vessels were reportedly being held by the U.S. Navy.
  • Reports citing British maritime security company Vanguard Tech stated that the tanker had sent a distress message saying its engine room had been hit by a missile.
  • In its statement, the MEA described the continuing attacks on shipping in the region as “deeply worrisome.”
  • The Ministry said these incidents were a direct result of the ongoing conflict in the region.
  • The MEA stressed that attacks on commercial ships and civilian infrastructure must stop.
  • It further stated that free and uninterrupted navigation and trade through international waterways should be restored as soon as possible in accordance with international law.

₹2,533-cr Facilities Planned for Central Government Staff in Amaravati

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved two major Central government infrastructure projects for Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, Amaravati.
  • The projects are expected to provide a major boost to the development of the capital city.
