  • Gukesh broke Garry Kasparov’s nearly four-decade-old record with this historic victory.
  • He secured the World Chess Championship title by achieving the required 7.5 points after a 58-move game against the defending champion.
  • The 14th game was heading toward a draw until Ding made a critical mistake on the 55th move, leading to Gukesh’s win.

  • Gukesh is the third Asian to win the World Championship, following Viswanathan Anand and Ding Liren.
  • He is only the 18th world chess champion in history, highlighting the magnitude of his achievement.
