Chinese Envoy Says Kailash Manasarovar Yatra Enhancing Bilateral Relations

  • China is ready to talk about improving how they manage and control the border with India after the four-year military tension at the Line of Actual Control ended, said Ambassador Xu Feihong.
  • He said he is hopeful that restarting the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra will boost relations between both countries and added that direct flights between India and China will begin soon.
  • He rejected criticism about China supporting Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, saying China-Pakistan ties are not against any other country, but warned that Dalai Lama successor comments could harm ties.
  • Xu responded to questions from The Hindu, noting that the recent visits of Indian leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Ajit Doval, and S. Jaishankar for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meetings indicate an improvement in bilateral ties.
  • He also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit China for the SCO Summit on August 31 and September 1, which would be his first visit since the Galwan Valley clash.
  • China wants to keep talking with India through diplomatic and military meetings to improve border management, build trust, and maintain long-lasting peace and calm along the borders.
  • He added that China’s decision to permit Indian pilgrims to visit Mount Kailash and Manasarovar in Tibet is a significant move towards strengthening friendship and enhancing relations between the two nations.
  • He added that government departments in both countries and major airlines are working to restart direct flights to help people travel easily and connect better.
  • India said the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting could not agree on a joint statement because Pakistan blocked words against terrorism, though Defence Minister Rajnath Singh still held talks in Beijing.
  • Xu did not answer why India’s concerns about the Pahalgam terror attack were left out by SCO, only saying that SCO rules let members share views but avoid bringing in bilateral disputes like with Pakistan.
  • When asked about India’s Deputy Army Chief saying China used Pakistan like a “borrowed knife” to hurt India, Xu repeated that China-Pakistan ties are not meant to harm any third country.
  • He avoided answering whether China’s trilateral talks with South Asian countries are to exclude India, saying India is welcome to join any group like China-Bangladesh-Pakistan or China-Pakistan-Afghanistan.
  • Xu said that since China started its Belt and Road Initiative twelve years ago, which India did not join, China’s trade with South Asian countries has doubled from under $100 billion to around $200 billion.

TN Police to Launch Mobile App for Mandatory Evidence Collection

  • A new mobile app called e-Sakshaya will soon be used by Tamil Nadu police to collect video and audio proof, upload crime scene photos or witness images, and create secure SID packets.
  • SID packets are secure files with location and time details along with hash verification to keep evidence safe and unchangeable, said a senior police officer explaining this new system.
  • This app was made by the Union Home Ministry to record audio-video evidence, create hash reports with exact time, and issue certificates in the legal format needed for court acceptance.
  • The State Crime Records Bureau is implementing this app for investigation officers. All officers have been trained on how to use it effectively in their day-to-day investigation work.
  • A senior officer said that every investigation officer must record video, audio, and photos when needed under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 rules during their investigation work.
  • The app uses blockchain technology to ensure data cannot be changed and remains trustworthy. It records videos, photos, witness details, and police searches or seizures directly at crime scenes.
  • All search operations recorded are sent to courts. If e-Sakshaya does not work due to network issues, officers must record by other means and issue manual Part-A certificates in such cases.
  • For such manual recordings, Part-B certificates will be given by experts notified under Section 329 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita as per Tamil Nadu Criminal Procedure Rules.
  • Investigation officers must link SID packets with FIR numbers, General Diary numbers, and Case Number Register numbers to keep digital records organised and easy to find later.
  • Once evidence is uploaded, it reaches the concerned magistrate and can be viewed through the case information system app or Sakshya portal under the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System, officials said.

Odisha Girl Set Ablaze by Miscreants Shifted to Delhi AIIMS

  • A 15-year-old girl with over 75% burns after being set on fire by unknown people in Puri, Odisha, was flown to AIIMS New Delhi on Sunday for better medical treatment.
  • Doctors at AIIMS Bhubaneswar observed slight improvement in her health and decided to transfer her to Delhi. Although she had suffered major injuries, she was able to speak clearly.
  • On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced that an air ambulance would be arranged for her if doctors permitted the move, assuring that the State government would extend complete support for her treatment.
  • To facilitate her quick transfer, a green corridor was set up from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Biju Patnaik International Airport, with additional police deployed to ensure security as she was taken in a life-support ambulance.
  • She was accompanied on the flight by two family members and a medical team. CM Majhi also offered prayers to Lord Jagannath on ‘X’ for her speedy recovery and reiterated the government’s commitment to provide full medical assistance.
  • AIIMS Bhubaneswar informed that a special bed and medical team had been arranged for her at AIIMS Delhi. The State also requested a green corridor in Delhi to avoid any delays on arrival.
  • The girl was stopped by three people on her way to her uncle’s house and taken to the Bhargavi river bank, where they set her on fire using an inflammable liquid.
  • A man living nearby rescued her by putting out the flames. Police said eight people, including some relatives, are being questioned while forensic teams revisited the crime scene for clues.
  • Opposition parties continued protests across Odisha. BJD members staged protests outside the Balanga police station, calling for strict action and drawing attention to the deteriorating law and order situation.
