Keir Starmer Announces Resignation as British Prime Minister
- United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he will resign from his position.
- He said that the Labour Party’s Members of Parliament no longer believe that he is the best person to lead the party into the next general election.
- The Labour Party will now prepare a timetable to choose a new leader so that a new Prime Minister can take office before September.
- Former Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who was recently sworn in as a Member of Parliament, said that he will put forward his name for the position of Prime Minister.
- Speaking outside No. 10 Downing Street on Monday, Mr. Starmer said that he had inherited a Labour Party that was politically, financially, and morally weak.
- He recalled leading Labour to a huge election victory in 2024 and highlighted several achievements of his government.
- Starmer said that under his government there had been growth in real wages, the fastest economic growth among G7 countries, shorter waiting times for medical appointments, a ban on social media use for children under 16, successful trade agreements, and better relations with the European Union.
- While speaking about his future, Mr. Starmer said that the issue was no longer about who could rebuild the Labour Party and bring it to power because those questions had already been answered.
- He said that the question now was whether he was the right person to lead Labour into the next general election.
- Starmer said that he had heard the answer given by his parliamentary party and accepted it respectfully and gracefully.
- The Prime Minister informed King Charles III about his decision on Monday morning after spending the weekend thinking carefully about it at Chequers, his official country residence.

- Many students who applied for re-evaluation of their CBSE Class 12 answer sheets saw a big increase in their marks, and the revised results were released on Sunday.
- The CBSE came under criticism because of differences and mistakes in evaluation after the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system was introduced in the academic year 2026–27.
- Students reported several problems related to the OSM system. These included blurred answer sheets, missing pages, missing maps or graphs, and answer sheets of one question paper being checked using the marking scheme meant for a different question paper.

- A student from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, had originally scored 71 marks in Physics.
