  • The bi monthly meeting of the Reserve Bank of India is not directly taking cue from the US Federal Reserve review but the concern on inflation remained the same.
  • The target of 4% inflation rate by the RBI is still difficult to achieve as the inflation rate in the month of December was 5.7% which was the fourth month high.
  • The RBI estimates that the inflation rate for this quarter average at 5.2% which is expected to cool around 4% in the period of July- September, providing an anticipation for the rate cuts if the monsoon in the country is normal.
  • The interim budget however could give the central bank more room to ease the liquidity constraints, as it is not adding to inflation pressure.
