Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the theme for National Science day

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh has released the theme for this year’s National science day which is celebrated every year on 28th February.

About the theme:

The theme for this year’s National Science day is  “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat” dedicated to encouraging the Public appreciation in the field of science, technology and innovation. The theme also reflects the accomplishments of the Indian scientists and promotes them to address the challenges through indigenous technology for the overall well being of citizens.

The theme of the National Science day this year makes the way for a new era of technology and innovation. It also encourages the coordination between indigenous and international technologies and promotes us to work together while maintaining the attempt to achieve the Atmanirbhar  milestone for India through science and technology.

About National Science Day:

National Science Day is observed on 28th February every year to remember the importance of the discovery of the Raman effect. In 1986, the government had declared the 28th February as the National Science Day. Since then the country celebrates the National Science Day with great enthusiasm.

On this day, Sir CV Raman had announced The discovery of Raman Effect and he also received the Nobel Prize for this achievement in 1930.

Since the commencement of the celebration of National Science Day in 1986, theme based science communication activities are celebrated around the country especially in schools and colleges.

Significance:

Over the last ten years, the achievements in the field of science and technology in India have been witnessed by the whole world. India is globally among the top 5 countries in the field of science especially scientific research publications.

In Global Innovation Index, India was on 40th rank showcasing the remarkable climb from 81th rank in 2015. The patent filing in India has also crossed the 90,000, highest in two decades.

Successful lending of Chandrayaan-3 on the South pole of the moon has made India the first country to achieve this milestone. India has also proved its capability during the covid period.

Conclusion:

India has been doing great in the field of science and technology Over the period of time and has all potential to continue this positive approach to achieve the Viksit Bharat target by 2047. The National Science Day is significant for India and we will welcome the day with great enthusiasm.
