‘Vocabulary’

  1. Sojourn (noun)

Meaning: a short period when a person stays in a particular place (डेरा डालना)

Synonyms: visit, stay, stopover

Sentence: My sojourn in the youth hostel was thankfully short.

  1. Inopportune (adj.)

Meaning: occurring at an inconvenient or inappropriate time. (बेवक़्त)

Synonyms: mistiming, untimely, unexpected

Antonyms: timely

Sentence: They arrived at an inopportune moment.

  1. Simpleton (noun)

Meaning: a person who lacks good sense or judgment (मूर्ख)

Synonyms: lunatic, fool, nincompoop

Antonyms: genius, intellectual, master

Sentence: She represented her little brother as a simpleton.

  1. Veriest (adj.)

Meaning: to a great degree (बहुत)

Synonyms: extremely, highly, too

Antonyms: somewhat, little, slightly

Meaning: to use up carelessly, especially money (लापरवाही से उपयोग करना)

Meaning: think about (something) carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a conclusion. (विचार करना)

Meaning: an abundance or large quantity of something. (प्रचुरता)

Synonyms: abundance, lot, mass

  1. Flail (verb)

Meaning: to strike repeatedly with something long and thin or flexible (पीटना)

Synonyms: thrash, slap, hit

Meaning: relating to, characteristic of, or like a snob. (दंभपूर्ण)

Synonyms: elitist, snobby, superior

Antonyms: humble, modest, unpretentious

Sentence: My brother is very snobbish about cars.

  1. Impiety (noun)

Meaning: lack of piety or reverence, especially for a god. (नास्तिकता)

Synonyms: godlessness, ungodliness, unholiness

Antonyms: adoration, glorification, worship

Sentence: He blamed the fall of the city on the impiety of the people.
