‘Vocabulary’
- Demarcate (verb)
Meaning: set the boundaries or limits of. (हदबंदी करना)
Synonyms: bound, circumscribe, limit
Sentence: A bright yellow line demarcated the county on the road map.
- Rapturous (adj.)
Meaning: characterized by, feeling, or expressing great pleasure or enthusiasm. (उत्साहपूर्ण)
Synonyms: ecstatic, joyful, joyous
Antonyms: depressed, unhappy, woebegone
Sentence: She was greeted with rapturous applause.
- Mobocracy (noun)
Meaning: rule or domination by the masses. (भीड़तंत्र)
Sentence: The court will never permit mobocracy to overwhelm the law of the land.
- Dictum (noun)
Meaning: a formal pronouncement from an authoritative source. (उक्ति)
Synonyms: pronouncement, proclamation, direction
Sentence: He followed the famous American dictum, ‘Don’t get mad, get even’.
- Demitting (verb)
Meaning: resign from (an office or position). (छोड़ना)
Synonyms: abjuring, denying, disavowing
Antonyms: claiming, confiscating
Sentence: Arguments within his congregation led to his demitting his post.
- Whim (noun)
Meaning: a sudden desire or change of mind, especially one that is unusual or unexplained. (अचानक इच्छा या परिवर्तन)
Synonyms: impulse, urge, notion
Sentence: We booked the holiday on a whim.
- Unenviable (adj.)
Meaning: difficult, undesirable, or unpleasant. (अवांछनीय)
Synonyms: disagreeable, unpleasant, undesirable
Antonyms: attractive, desirable, enviable
Sentence: She had the unenviable task of making the first few phone calls.
- Miscarry (verb)
Meaning: (of something planned) fail to attain an intended or expected outcome. (असफल होना)
Synonyms: go wrong, go awry, go amiss
Antonyms: prevail, succeed, prosper
Sentence: I think my letter must have miscarried.
- Sparser (adj.)
Meaning: thinly dispersed or scattered. (विरल)
Synonyms: scanty, scant, scattered
Antonyms: abundant, ample, bountiful
Sentence: Anaemia, caused by iron deficiency, also makes hair sparser.
- Littered (verb)
Meaning: make (a place) untidy with rubbish or a large number of objects left lying about. (कूड़े से ढांपना)
Synonyms: make untidy, mess up, disarranged
Antonyms: neat, neatened, ordered
