 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Elude (verb)

Meaning: evade or escape from (a danger, enemy, or pursuer), typically in a skillful or cunning way. (टलना)

Synonyms: evade, avoid, dodge

Antonyms: catch, embrace, pursue

Sentence: He managed to elude his pursuers by escaping into an alley.

  1. Pertained (verb)

Meaning: be appropriate, related, or applicable. (संबंधित)

Synonyms: concern, relate to, involve

Antonyms: irrelevant, irrelative

Sentence: Your questions should pertain directly to the discussion topic.

  1. Inconsolable (adj.)

Meaning: (of a person or their grief) not able to be comforted or alleviated. (गमगीन)

Synonyms: heartbroken, devastated, miserable

Antonyms: blissful, buoyant, cheerful

Sentence: The old man’s grief was agonizing and inconsolable.

  1. Agile (adj.)

Meaning: able to move quickly and easily. (चुस्त)

Synonyms: nimble, lithe, spry

Antonyms: clumsy, gawky, graceless

Sentence: He was as agile as a monkey.

  1. Assess (verb)

Meaning: evaluate or estimate the nature, ability, or quality of. (आकलन)

Synonyms: evaluate, judge, gauge

Antonyms: ignore, neglect

Sentence: The committee must assess the relative importance of the issues.

  1. Ambit (noun)

Meaning: the scope, extent, or bounds of something. (सीमा)

Synonyms: scope, extent, bounds

Sentence: Her case falls within the ambit of moral law.

  1. Ensnare (verb)

Meaning: catch in or as in a trap. (फुसलाना)

Synonyms: capture, catch, seize

Antonyms: clear, free, liberate

Sentence: Spiders ensnare flies and other insects in their webs.

  1. Intricate (adj.)

Meaning: very complicated or detailed. (जटिल)

Synonyms: complex, complicated, convoluted

Antonyms: plain, simple, uncomplicated

Sentence: Police officers uncovered an intricate web of deceit.

  1. Doleful (adj.)

Meaning: expressing sorrow; mournful. (मातमी)

Synonyms: mournful, woeful, sorrowful

Antonyms: happy, joyful, blissful

Sentence: As soon as I saw the doctor’s doleful expression, I knew my father’s condition was not good.

  1. Insolent (adj.)

Meaning: showing a rude and arrogant lack of respect. (बदतमीज)

Synonyms: impertinent, impudent, cheeky

Antonyms: meek, humble, respectful

Sentence: She hated the insolent tone of his voice.
