 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Zeal (noun)

Meaning: great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective. (उत्साह)

Synonyms: passion, zealousness, ardor

Antonyms: laziness, lethargy, listlessness

Sentence: Zeal without knowledge is fire without light.

  1. Compel (verb)

Meaning: force or oblige (someone) to do something. (मजबूर)

Synonyms: force, coerce into, pressurize into

Antonyms: allow, let, permit

Meaning: repeatedly ask (someone) to do something; pester. (परेशान करना)

Meaning: impossible to understand. (अस्पष्ट)

Synonyms: incomprehensible, indiscernible, confusing

Antonyms: intelligible, understandable, comprehensible

Meaning: the action of depriving someone of membership in an organization. (निष्कासन)

Synonyms: debarment, dismissal, exile

Antonyms: repatriation, return, immigration

  1. Iniquitous (adj.)

Meaning: grossly unfair and morally wrong. (अन्यायी)

Synonyms: wicked, sinful, evil

Antonyms: decent, ethical, good

  1. Miscellany (noun)

Meaning: a group or collection of different items; a mixture. (मिश्रण)

Synonyms: assortment, mixture, melange

Sentence: The museum houses a fascinating miscellany of nautical treasures.

  1. Plebiscite (noun)

Meaning: the direct vote of all the members of an electorate on an important public question such as a change in the constitution. (जनमत-संग्रह)

  1. Virility (noun)

Meaning: (in a man) the quality of having strength, energy, strong (हिम्मत)

Synonyms: manliness, masculinity, bravery

Antonyms: cowardice, timidity

  1. Hankering (noun)

Meaning: a strong desire to have or do something. (लालसा)

Synonyms: yearning, desire, appetency

Antonyms: revulsion, apathy

Sentence: I’ve always had the hankering to go to America.
