‘Vocabulary’
- Dole (verb)
Meaning: distribute shares of something. (बांटना)
Synonyms: deal out, share out, divide up
Antonyms:
Sentence: The scanty portions of food doled out to them.
- Oblivion (noun)
Meaning: the state of being unaware or unconscious of what is happening. (विस्मरण)
Synonyms: unconsciousness, insensibility, stupor
Antonyms: consciousness, recollection, awareness
Sentence: Alcoholics often suffer from periods of oblivion.
- Morph (verb)
Meaning: to take on a different shape, appearance, or state (परिवर्तन)
Synonyms: transform, change, transfigure
Sentence: When it emerged from its chrysalis, the caterpillar had morphed into a striking butterfly.
- Envision (verb)
Meaning: imagine as a future possibility; visualize. (कल्पना करना)
Synonyms: visualize, imagine, envisage
Sentence: They didn’t envision any problems with the new building.
- Surreptitious (adj.)
Meaning: kept secret, especially because it would not be approved of. (छल से किया हुआ)
Synonyms: secret, stealthy, clandestine
Antonyms: overt, public, open
Sentence: She carried out a surreptitious search of his belongings.
- Perennially (adv.)
Meaning: in a way that continues for a long or apparently infinite time; permanently. (निरंतर)
Synonyms: long, enduringly, perpetually
Antonyms: never, once, nevermore
Sentence: Both services are perennially short of staff.
- Gale (noun)
Meaning: a very strong wind. (आंधी)
Synonyms: storm, hurricane, windstorm
Sentence: It was blowing a gale outside.
- Lineage (noun)
Meaning: lineal descent from an ancestor; ancestry or pedigree. (वंशावली)
Synonyms: ancestry, parentage, pedigree
Antonyms: progeny, seed
Sentence: She’s very proud of her ancient royal lineage.
- Therein (adv.)
Meaning: in that place, document, or respect. (यहां)
Synonyms: here, hither, there
Sentence: It shall be sufficient evidence of the facts therein contained.
- Helter-Skelter (adj.)
Meaning: acting or done with excessive or careless speed (अस्त व्यस्त)
Synonyms: hurried, rushed, hasty
Antonyms: unhurried, deliberate, unrushed
Sentence: They ran away helter-skelter, but the police gained ground upon them.
