‘Vocabulary’
- Abstinent (adj.)
Meaning: given to or marked by restraint in the satisfaction of one’s appetites (संयमी)
Synonyms: disciplined, self-controlled, self-abnegating
Antonyms: self-indulgent, voracious
Sentence: The patients are best advised to be totally abstinent from alcohol.
- Thronged (verb)
Meaning: (of a crowd) fill or be present in (a place or area). (भीड़)
Synonyms: mob, jostle, pack (into)

- Flummox (verb)
Meaning: perplex (someone) greatly; bewilder. (घबराना)

- Discernible (adj.)
Meaning: able to be discerned; perceptible. (नमूदार)
Synonyms: detectable, noticeable, perceptible

Sentence: Her face was barely discernible in the gloom.
- Wile (noun)
Meaning: devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants. (छलबल)

Antonyms: sincerity, candidness, candor
Sentence: Fox’s wiles will never enter the lion’s head.
- Wretched (adj.)
Meaning: (of a person) in a very unhappy or unfortunate state. (मनहूस)

Antonyms: great, marvellous, wonderful
Sentence: I felt so wretched because I thought I might never see you again.
- Cordoned (verb)
Meaning: prevent access to or from an area or building by surrounding it with police or other guards. (घेराबंदी कर दी)

Sentence: Police cordoned off part of the city centre.
- Scuttled (verb)
Meaning: run hurriedly or furtively with short quick steps. (भागना)
Synonyms: scamper, scurry, scramble

- Accentuate (verb)
Meaning: make more noticeable or prominent. (ध्यान आकर्षित करना)
Synonyms: focus attention on, draw attention to, highlight
Antonyms: underemphasize, understate, belittle
Sentence: The photograph seemed to accentuate his large nose.
- Tantamount (adj.)
Meaning: equivalent in seriousness to; virtually the same as. (समान)
Synonyms: equivalent to, equal to, amounting to
Antonyms: disparate, distinct, distinguishable
Sentence: This invasion is tantamount to a declaration of war.
