  1. Untoward (adj.)

Meaning: unexpected and inappropriate or inconvenient. (अप्रिय)

Synonyms: unexpected, unanticipated

Antonyms: favorable, positive

Sentence: I walked past but didn’t notice anything untoward.

  1. Cynosure (noun)

Meaning: a person or thing that is the center of attention or admiration. (ध्यान का केंद्र)

Synonyms: forefront, heart

Sentence: That company is the cynosure for anyone wishing to make it in the music business.

  1. Effusive (adj.)

Meaning: expressing feelings of gratitude, pleasure, or approval in an unrestrained or heartfelt manner. (असंयत)

Synonyms: gushy, unrestrained, unreserved

Antonyms: restrained, undemonstrative, reserved

Sentence: Our host gave us an effusive welcome.

  1. Impresario (noun)

Meaning: a person who manages a performance (such as a concert or play) (प्रबंधक)

Synonyms: director, producer, organizer

Sentence: It was the actor’s dream to work under the renowned impresario.

  1. Vouchsafe (verb)

Meaning: give or grant (something) to (someone) in a gracious or condescending manner. (प्रदान करना)

Synonyms: grant, concede, permit

Antonyms: hinder, impede, refuse

Sentence: He vouchsafed the secret to only a few chosen disciples.

  1. Chary (adj.)

Meaning: having or showing a close attentiveness to avoiding danger or trouble (सावधान)

Synonyms: wary, cautious, careful

Antonyms: careless, unmindful, heedless

Sentence: The director is chary about spending money.

  1. Travail (noun)

Meaning: a state of great suffering of body or mind (विपत्ति)

Synonyms: distress, agony, anguish

Antonyms: comfort, relief, consolation

Sentence: No greater travail than that of parents who have suffered the death of a child.

  1. Convoluted (adj.)

Meaning: (especially of an argument, story, or sentence) extremely complex and difficult to follow. (जटिल)

Synonyms: complicated, complex, intricate

Antonyms: simple, plain, uncomplicated

Sentence: His grammar explanations are terribly convoluted.

  1. Smidgen (noun)

Meaning: a small amount of something. (थोड़ा)

Synonyms: ace, bit, driblet

Antonyms: abundance, barrel, boatload

Sentence: Could I have a smidgen more wine?

  1. Recrimination (noun)

Meaning: an accusation in response to one from someone else. (अभियोग)

Synonyms: incrimination, charge, complaint

Sentence: Let’s not indulge in recrimination.
