‘Vocabulary’

  1. Suitor (noun)

Meaning: a man who pursues a relationship with a particular woman, with a view to marriage (प्रेमी)

Synonyms: admirer, beau, wooer

Antonyms: enemy

Sentence: He was her most persistent suitor, and she eventually agreed to marry him.

  1. Stashing (verb)

Meaning: store (something) safely and secretly in a specified place (छिपाना)

Synonyms: hide, store, secrete

Antonyms: handing out, casting

  1. Affluent (adj.)

Meaning: having a great deal of money; wealthy (धनी)

Meaning: cause (someone) to lose confidence or hope (नैतिक करना)

  1. Grievances (noun)

Meaning: a real or imagined wrong or other cause for complaint or protest, especially unfair treatment (शिकायत)

Synonyms: injustice, unjust act, wrong

Antonyms: acclaim, applause, praises

Sentence: Their main grievance was that they had not received their pitiably low pay.

  1. Brute (noun)

Meaning: a savagely violent person or animal (पशु)

Synonyms: beast, monster, merciless

Antonyms: humane, kind, kindhearted

Sentence: His father was a drunken brute.

  1. Char (noun)

Meaning: partially burn (an object) so as to blacken its surface (जलाना)

Synonyms: scorch, burn, singe

Sentence: Their bodies were badly charred in the fire.

  1. Disparage (verb)

Meaning: regard or represent as being of little worth (उपेक्षा करना)

Synonyms: belittle, denigrate, deprecate

Antonyms: acclaim, applaud, exalt

Sentence: He never missed an opportunity to disparage his competitors.

  1. Reprimands (noun)

Meaning: a rebuke, especially an official one (फटकार)

Synonyms: rebuke, reproof, admonishment

Antonyms: citations, commendations, endorsements

Sentence: The golfer received a reprimand for a breach of rules.

  1. Hooliganism (noun)

Meaning: violent or rowdy behavior by young troublemakers, typically in a gang (उपद्रव)

Synonyms: evil, immorality, sin

Antonyms: goodness

Sentence: The propensity to hooliganism is inherent in every society.
