 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Hanker (verb)

Meaning: feel a strong desire for or to do something. (लालायित होना)

Synonyms: yearn, crave, desire

Antonyms: abhor, abominate, despise

Sentence: What did you hanker after most when you were in prison?

  1. Burnish (verb)

Meaning: polish (something, especially metal) by rubbing. (चमकना)

Synonyms: polish (up), shine, brighten

Antonyms: rough (up), roughen, ruffle

Sentence: She wished her to dust the furniture, burnish the coal scuttle, and clean the windows.

  1. Usurpation (noun)

Meaning: the unlawful taking or withholding of something from the rightful owner under the guise of authority (हड़प लेना)

  1. Perdition (noun)

Meaning: (in Christian theology) a state of eternal punishment and damnation into which a sinful and unpenitent person passes after death. (विनाश)

Synonyms: damnation, destruction, downfall

Antonyms: bliss, paradise

Sentence: Simple stupidity is not enough to doom one to perdition.

  1. Foolhardy (adj.)

Meaning: recklessly bold or rash. (असावधान)

Synonyms: reckless, careless, incautious

Antonyms: careful, cautious, heedful

Sentence: It would be foolhardy to go into the scheme without support.

  1. Egregious (adj.)

Meaning: outstandingly bad; shocking. (प्रबल)

Synonyms: shocking, appalling, horrific

Antonyms: trivial, imperceptible

Sentence: It was an egregious error for a statesman to show such ignorance.

  1. Embroil (verb)

Meaning: involve (someone) deeply in an argument, conflict, or difficult situation. (उलझाना)

Synonyms: involve, ensnare, enmesh

Antonyms: emancipated, freed, liberated

Sentence: Take care not to get embroiled with those people.

  1. Bamboozle (verb)

Meaning: fool or cheat (someone). (धोखा देना)

Synonyms: trick, deceive, delude

Antonyms: expose, reveal

Sentence: She was bamboozled into telling them her credit card number.

  1. Clutter (noun)

Meaning: an unorganized collection or mixture of various things (ढेरी)

Synonyms: agglomerate, agglomeration, mixed bag

Sentence: Sorry about the clutter in the kitchen
