‘Vocabulary’
- Insolvency (noun)
Meaning: The state of being insolvent. (दिवालियापन)
Synonyms: bankruptcy, insolvency, failure
Antonyms: increase, solvency, achievement
Sentence: We look at your options if you are facing insolvency.
- Corollary (noun)
Meaning: a proposition that follows from (and is often appended to) one already proved. (परिणाम)
Synonyms: conclusion, aftereffect, consequence
Antonyms: cause, occasion, reason
Sentence: The huge increases in unemployment were the corollary of expenditure cuts.
- Autonomous (adj.)
Meaning: (of a country or region) having the freedom to govern itself or control its own affairs. (स्वायत्तशासी)
Synonyms: independent, self-governed, self-governing
Antonyms: dependent, non-self-governing, subject, unfree
Sentence: They proudly declared themselves part of a new autonomous province.
- Exacerbated (verb)
Meaning: make (a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling) worse. (ख़राब करना)
Synonyms: aggravate, complicate, worsen
Antonyms: ease, help, relieve
Sentence: I don’t want to exacerbate the situation.
- Entail (verb)
Meaning: involve (something) as a necessary or inevitable part or consequence. (मिलना)
Synonyms: carry, comprehend, contain
Antonyms: exclude, leave, miss out
Sentence: Such a decision would entail a huge political risk.
- Envisage (verb)
Meaning: contemplate or conceive of as a possibility or a desirable future event. (परिकल्पना करना)
Synonyms: foresee, predict, forecast
Antonyms: actual, existing, real
Sentence: Nobody can envisage the consequences of total nuclear war.
- Undulate (verb)
Meaning: move or go with a smooth up-and-down motion. (लहराता)
Synonyms: rise and fall, surge, wave
Antonyms: efflux, motionlessness, lose.
Sentence: We soon see a field of wheat undulate in the breeze.
- Salvage (noun)
Meaning: the rescue of a wrecked or disabled ship or its cargo from a loss at sea. (उबार)

- Fraught (adj.)
Meaning: (of a situation or course of action) filled with or likely to result in (something undesirable). (भरा हुआ)

- Inept (adj.)
Meaning: having or showing no skill; clumsy. (अयोग्य)
Synonyms: incompetent, unskilful, clumsy
Antonyms: capable, competent, expert
Sentence: I’ve never heard anyone so inept at making speeches.
