‘Vocabulary’
- Marshaling (verb)
Meaning: arrange or assemble (a group of people, especially soldiers) in order. (इकट्ठा करना)
Synonyms: gather, gather together, assemble
Antonyms: demobbing, demobilizing
Sentence: Richard was marshalling the doctors and nurses, showing them where to go.
- Emissary (noun)
Meaning: a person sent on a special mission, usually as a diplomatic representative. (दूत)
Synonyms: envoy, ambassador, diplomat
Sentence: Most of the industrialized nations of the world sent emissaries to the conference on global warming.
- Queered (verb)
Meaning: spoil or ruin (an agreement, event, or situation). (खराब करना)
Synonyms: ruin, damage, vitiate
Antonyms: glorify, elevate, ennoble
Sentence: Reg didn’t want someone meddling and queering the deal at the last minute.
- Burgeoning (adj.)
Meaning: beginning to grow or increase rapidly; flourishing. (तेजी से बढ़ते)
Synonyms: accelerating, accumulating, booming
Antonyms: decreasing, diminishing, dwindling
Sentence: Our company’s business is burgeoning now.
- Confabulation (noun)
Meaning: friendly, informal conversation or an instance of this (बातचीत)
Synonyms: backchat, cackle, causerie
Sentence: Began our confabulation with that traditional icebreaker: an innocuous discussion of the weather.
- Overtly (adv.)
Meaning: without concealment or secrecy; openly. (खुलकर)
Synonyms: apparent, undisguised, clear
Antonyms: private, secretive
Sentence: Much of the recent speculation has overtly political motives.
- Debilitating (verb)
Meaning: to diminish the physical strength of (दुर्बल)
Synonyms: devitalizing, enervating, enfeebling
Antonyms: fortifying, strengthening, energizing
Sentence: He was hoping for a cure from his debilitating illness.
- Travesty (noun)
Meaning: a false, absurd, or distorted representation of something. (गलतबयानी)
Synonyms: misrepresentation, distortion, perversion
Sentence: The trial was a travesty of justice.
- Fatigued (verb)
Meaning: cause (someone) to feel tired or exhausted. (थका देना)
Synonyms: tire, tire out, exhaust
Antonyms: activated, energized, invigorated
Sentence: Climbing the mountain fatigued the whole scout troop.
- Desist (verb)
Meaning: cease; abstain. (बंद कर देना)
Synonyms: abstain, refrain, forbear
Antonyms: initiate, appear, start
Sentence: The shopping centre agreed to desist from false advertising.
