‘Vocabulary’
- Gazillion (noun)
Meaning: a very large number or quantity (used for emphasis). (अधिक)
Synonyms: million, thousands, excess
Antonyms: little, inadequacy, deficiency
Sentence: I have a gazillion things to do.
- Recompense (noun)
Meaning: compensation or reward given for loss or harm suffered or effort made. (मुआवज़ा)
Synonyms: compensation, reparation, indemnification
Sentence: She received a gift as recompense.
- Axiom (noun)
Meaning: a statement or proposition which is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true. (स्वयंसिद्ध)
Synonyms: accepted truth, general truth, dictum
Sentence: It is a widely held axiom that governments should not negotiate with terrorists.
- Castigating (verb)
Meaning: to criticize (someone) severely or angrily especially (निंदा करने वाला)
Synonyms: reprimand, rebuke, admonish
Antonyms: approving, endorsing, acclaiming
Sentence: The newspaper editorial castigating the city council for approving the project in the first place.
- Heckling (verb)
Meaning: interrupt (a public speaker) with derisive or aggressive comments or abuse. (चिल्लाना)
Synonyms: jeer, taunt, disrupt
Sentence: The ceremony was disrupted by unprecedented heckling and slogan-chanting.
- Affability (noun)
Meaning: the quality of having a friendly and good-natured manner. (नेकी)
Synonyms: friendliness, amiability, geniality
Antonyms: disagreeableness, unpleasantness
Sentence: He was beloved by the nation for his affability toward people from all walks of life.
- Rendezvous (noun)
Meaning: a meeting at an agreed time and place, typically between two people. (मिलन)
Synonyms: appointment, assignation, date
Sentence: He made a rendezvous with her in Times Square.
- Imperceptibly (adv.)
Meaning: in a way that is so slight, gradual, or subtle as not to be perceived. (अगोचर रूप से)
Synonyms: crescively, gradually
Antonyms: abruptly, suddenly
Sentence: The disease develops gradually and imperceptibly.
- Lambent (adj.)
Meaning: (of light or fire) glowing, gleaming, or flickering with a soft radiance. (उज्ज्वल)
Synonyms: beaming, luminous, glowing
Antonyms: dim, dull, dark
Sentence: The lambent flames from our campfire cast a comforting glow.
- Grandiose (adj.)
Meaning: impressive and imposing in appearance or style, especially pretentiously so. (दिखावटी)
Synonyms: magnificent, impressive, grand
Antonyms: modest, unpretentious
Sentence: He’s always producing grandiose plans that never work.
