 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Sulking (verb)

Meaning: be silent, morose, and bad-tempered out of annoyance or disappointment. (नाराज)

Synonyms: grumping, moping, pouting

Sentence: He’s been sulking for days about being left out of the team.

  1. Multihued (adj.)

Meaning: marked by a variety of usually vivid colors (बहुरंगी)

Synonyms: chromatic, colored, colorful

Antonyms: colorless, monochromatic, monochromic

Sentence: This magnificent view shows the multihued beauty of the Adirondacks, a mountain range located in the northeastern part of New York.

  1. Maverick (noun)

Meaning: an unorthodox or independent-minded person. (अपरंपरागत व्यक्ति)

Synonyms: individualist, nonconformist, unorthodox person

Antonyms: conformer, conformist

Sentence: Politically, she’s a bit of a maverick.

  1. Veneer (noun)

Meaning: a deceptively attractive external appearance (दिखावा)

Meaning: gradually decline in effectiveness or vigor due to underuse or neglect. (पतन)

  1. Domineering (adj.)

Meaning: asserting one’s will over another in an arrogant way. (अत्याचारी)

  1. Devious (adj.)

Meaning: showing a skillful use of underhanded tactics to achieve goals. (चालाक)

Synonyms: underhand, underhand, deceptive

Antonyms: guileless, ingenuous, innocent

  1. Desiccate (verb)

Meaning: remove the moisture from (something); cause to become completely dry. (सूखना)

Synonyms: dried, dried up, dehydrated

Antonyms: hydrate, wash, water

  1. Harshest (adj.)

Meaning: cruel or severe. (सख्त से सख्त)

Synonyms: cruel, severe, tyrannous

Antonyms: bearable, endurable, tolerable

  1. Panacea (noun)

Meaning: a solution or remedy for all difficulties or diseases. (रामबाण)

Synonyms: universal cure, cure-all, universal remedy

Sentence: Technology is not a panacea for all our problems.
