Exp. Asia Power Index 2021: India ranked as 4th most Powerful Country in Asia

As per the Lowy Institute Asia Power Index 2021, India Ranked 4th most powerful country in Asia for comprehensive power out of 26 countries, with an overall score of 37.7 out of 100.

The top 10 countries for overall power in the Asia-Pacific region are the US, China, Japan, India, Russia, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.

Exp. Olaf Scholz appointed as Germany’s new chancellor

Social Democratic Party of Germany leader, Olaf Scholz sworn as the new Chancellor of Germany, replacing Angela Merkel’s 16-year reign.

Scholz, 63, Germany’s vice chancellor and finance minister since 2018, brings a wealth of experience and discipline to an untried coalition of his center-left Social Democrats, the environmentalist Greens and the pro-business Free Democrats.

Exp. Fitch Ratings slashed India’s FY22 GDP growth forecast to 8.4%

On 8th December 2021, Fitch Ratings slashed India’s economic growth forecast in financial year 2021-22 (FY22) to 8.4 percent and raised the growth projection to 10.3 percent for FY23, compared October, 2021 ratings projections of 8.7 percent (FY22) and 10 percent (FY23).

In the December report, India’s GDP grew 11.4 percent in the Q2 FY22 over April-June quarter of FY22 on a seasonally adjusted basis. Economy has contracted 4 percent in the April-June quarter in FY22 over the fourth quarter of FY21.

Exp. SBI signed MoU with Kendriya Sainik Board

State Bank of India (SBI) will sign an MoU with Kendriya Sainik Board to support and educate the children of war veterans, ex-servicemen, and war widows.

India’s largest bank said it will provide a grant of ₹1,000 per month to 8,333 war veterans’. The bank has contributed ₹10 crore to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on December 7.

Exp. DRDO test fired air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from Sukhoi 30 MK-I aircraft

India successfully test-fired the air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the integrated test range of Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.The air version of the missile was test-fired from supersonic fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 MK-I.

BrahMos is a joint venture between DRDO (India) and NPO Mashinostroyeniya (Russia) for the development, production and marketing of the supersonic cruise missile which has been inducted into Indian Armed Forces.

The missile derives its name from the rivers of Brahmaputra in India and Moskva in Russia.

Exp. A joint military exercise PANEX-21 with BIMSTEC countries will be held in Pune

The Indian Army is organising a multi-nation Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Exercise with a special focus on relief in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The exercise has been called PANEX 21 and will involve Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand and India—BIMSTEC countries.

The book is the autobiography of B K Madhur, a former Chief Executive Officer at DHFL Property Services Ltd, and one of the key personalities in establishing Dewan Housing.
