Democratic attack in Brazil

Thousands of people having been gathered in Brazil’s largest city ‘São Paulo’ and demonstrating in support of democratic values after far-right rioters stormed government buildings in Brasília.

Why protest being in Brazil?

Jair Bolsonaro had lost the presidential election to left-wing Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in October after sowing unsubstantiated claims about voting systems.

Many of his supporters have not accepted the result camping outside army buildings around the country calling for a military intervention.

Another reason for the protesters is about the disliking for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as he had defeated Bolsonaro in the elections after his controversial convictions in Operation Car Wash.

Bolsonaro has refused about encouraging Sunday’s attack and saying what happened had gone beyond democratic protest.

Jiar Bolsonaro’s wife stated that he is under observation in hospital in Florida for abdominal pain stemming from when he was stabbed in 2018.

Current situation in Brazil:

About 1,500 supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro are detained after the Congress building, presidential palace and Supreme Court were ransacked.

Security forces are getting through protest camps outside the army’s headquarters in Brasília, where some 3,000 Bolsonaro supporters had set up tents.

Supporters are refusing to accept that Jair Bolsonaro lost October’s election and calling for military intervention and the resignation of the country’s new left-wing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
