The Director-General of the Department of Information, and spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cherdkiat Atthakor, accompanied by the Deputy Director-General of the ASEAN Affairs Department, Usana Peeranon, announced that the 36th ASEAN Summit, being hosted by Vietnam from June 22 to 26, 2020, will take place via teleconference in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Indo-Bangladesh “Virtual Conference” Organised By Assocham


Union DoNER Minister of State (I/C) Dr Jitendra Singh said that new paradigms will emerge post-COVID, with a potential for new breakthroughs in economy, trade, scientific research and several other diverse areas.
SCO Foreign Ministers “Virtual” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar participated in the virtual meeting of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries on 13th May to discuss cooperation to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The conference is being held under the chairmanship of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

32nd Commonwealth Health Ministers “Virtual” Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan participated in the 32nd Commonwealth Health Ministers’ Meeting through Video Conference on 14th May.

The theme of the meeting was- Delivering a co-ordinated Commonwealth COVID-19 response.

World Health Assembly virtually in Geneva The two-day 2020 assembly will be held virtually – it usually happens in Geneva – because of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis around the world.

BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting Ministerial video conference will be hosted by Russia Union Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar joins his counterparts from Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa for a meeting on 28 April. The foreign ministers of BRICS member countries will hold an extraordinary video conference to discuss ways to jointly combat the coronavirus pandemic. The event will be chaired by Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister.

Fourth Global Ayurveda Festival Kochi The Fourth Global Ayurveda Festival, GAF will be held at Kochi in Kerala from 16th to 20th May. A curtain raiser event was organized in New Delhi this evening for the GAF.

The theme for the five-day event is Ayurveda Medical Tourism: Actualizing India’s credibility.

fifth observer to Indian Ocean Commission India India was admitted to the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC: Commission de l’Océan Indien, COI) on 7th March as an observer after it applied last month to be considered for observer status.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the IOC Conference of ministers in Seychelles on 7th March making India the fifth observer. The other four observers China, Malta, European Union and International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).

5th BIMSTEC Summit Colombo, Sri lanka BIMSTEC charter will be ready for adoption at its next biennial summit 2020 meeting scheduled to be held in Colombo this year (September).

This was informed by BIMSTEC Secretary General Mohammad Shahidu Islam during his meeting with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa last evening.

National Conference on Women in Police and CAPFs New Delhi Union Minister for Women and Child Development Mrs Smriti Zubin Irani has stressed the need to train more female forensic investigators and cyber crime experts. Speaking after inaugurating a National Conference on Women in Police and CAPFs organized by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, the BPR&D here, she advised to make an SoP for “One Stop Centre for Women”.

Wings India 2020” Hyderabad The four-day civil aviation business exhibition and air show, Wings India 2020 will kickstart from 12th March.

The biennial event being organized by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) along with Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India will be on till March 15 at the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad.

6th International Day of Yoga


Leh Leh, the capital of the Union territory of Ladakh will be the venue for the main event for International Yoga Day on June 21 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it, AYUSH Ministry officials said on 11th March.

PM Modi is expected to perform yoga asanas based on the Common Yoga Protocol.

National Horticulture Fair 2020 Bengaluru


National Horticulture Fair 2020 was concluded in Bengaluru. It was inaugurated by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) on 5 February 2020. COP26 UK The UK has won the bid to host the 26th Conference of the Parties, known as COP26, following a partnership with Italy.
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Rome, Italy The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) 43rd Governing Council meeting was held in Rome, Italy.

Bio Asia 2020 Hyderabad


Telangana host the three-day Bio Asia 2020, Asia’s largest Biotechnology and Life Sciences Forum with the theme of ‘Today for Tomorrow’ from February 17 to 19 February in Hyderabad.
2020 Global Investors Summit J&K Srinagar is to host a three-day Global Investors’ Summit 2020 for the first time. The objective of the summit is to invite investments to the newly formed Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.


International Judicial Conference 2020 New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a two-day International Judicial Conference 2020 organised by Supreme Court in New Delhi on 22nd February.

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Chief Justice Sharad Bobde will also be present on the occasion. Chief Justice Robert Reed of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom will deliver a keynote address at the conference. Chief Justice of Australia will also be present.

G20 finance ministers’ Riyadh Saudi Arabia is hosting the inaugural G20 finance ministers’ and central bank governors’ meeting on 22nd February. The meeting will be chaired by Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan and Ahmed Alkholifey.

Saudi G20 presidency under the theme of “Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All.”

Artificial Intelligence Summit ‘RAISE 2020’ New Delhi RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment) 2020 will be organised by the government in partnership with industry and academia.

The summit will be a global meeting of minds to exchange ideas and charter a course to use AI for social empowerment, inclusion and transformation in key areas like healthcare, agriculture, education and smart mobility, among other sectors.

International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh The 13th edition of the International Children’s Film Festival of Bangladesh was inaugurated in Dhaka.

UN Climate Change Conference (COP 25) Spanish capital city of Madrid UN Climate Change Conference (COP 25) from 2 to 13 December. The decision was taken following Chile’s stepping down as host for the event due to the ongoing street protests in the South American country.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), as the incoming IORA Chair, will host the 19th IORA Council of Ministers (COM) Meeting on 7 November 2019 in Abu Dhabi.

National Capital Region-2041 New Delhi The Centre has asked the NCR planning board to prepare the blueprint for the urban planning of Delhi 2041 in the next two years.

11th BRICS Summit 2019 Brasilia, Brazil


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Brazil on November 13 and 14 to attend the 11th BRICS summit.

The theme of the BRICS summit this year is “Economic Growth for an Innovative Future” and it will be held in the capital city Brasilia.

9th BRICS trade ministers meet Brasilia, Brazil Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal attended the 9th BRICS trade ministers meet in Brasilia.

He deliberated on the global economic climate with his counterparts from other member nations.

G20 foreign ministers meeting 2019 Japan External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on 24th November interacted with his counterparts from several countries as he attended the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting  in Japan.

Jaishankar concluded the two-day event with a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi.

10th Commonwealth Youth Parliament


Delhi The 10th Commonwealth Youth Parliament, a three day event, is to be hosted in Delhi, India by the Delhi assembly for the first time, on 25th November. On the first day of the event, Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla attended the event as a chief guest. 47 participants from 24 commonwealth nations.

Purpose: Students in understanding the important and fundamental aspects of parliamentary democracy and enable them to connect with like-minded peers. The students will get the opportunity to experience the ‘real-life’ assembly/parliamentary functioning. The overall purpose of this event is to enlighten to the youth the importance of good governance for the growth of a nation and the world.

UNESCO General Conference Paris Union Minister of Human Resource and Development(MHRD) Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ addressed the 40th UNESCO General Conference in Paris held from November 12-27,2019. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) general conference discussed the future of multilateralism in the rapidly changing world.

BRICS Culture Ministers’ meeting Curitiba, Brazil Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel on 13 october participated in BRICS Culture Ministers’ meeting held in Curitiba, Brazil.

Speaking at the event Prahlad Patel asserted that BRICS for India is a valuable forum for consultation, coordination and cooperation on contemporary global issues of mutual interest.

G20 Health Ministers’ Meeting Okayama, Japan G20 Okayama Health Ministers’ Conference in Japan on 20 October. Harshvardhan represented by India.

The G20 is made up of 19 countries and the EU. The 19 countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the UK and the US.

JP Morgan International Council New Delhi PM met with the JP Morgan International Council in New Delhi on 22nd October. After 2007, this was the first time that the International Council met in India.

The International Council comprises of global statesmen like former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Australian PM John Howard, former US Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of Defence Robert Gates as well as leading figures from the world of business and finance like Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan Chase), Ratan Tata (Tata Group) and leading representatives from global companies like Nestle, Alibaba, Alfa, Iberdola, Kraft Heinz etc.

18th NAM Summit Baku, Azerbaijan The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit has been scheduled to be held between 25 October and 26 October 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The 18th NAM summit 2019 will be preceded by Ministerial meetings and senior official meetings.

The 18th Summit Conference of the NAM will be hosted in October 2019 by H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will lead the Indian delegation at 18th NAM Summit.

14th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Greater Noida, Delhi NCR The 12-day, 14th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) was held at the India Expo Centre & MartGreater Noida, Delhi NCR, India from September 2-13, 2019 under the theme “Investing in Land, Unlocking Opportunities”. It was for the first time, India had hosted the conference.


7th RCEP ministerial meeting Bangkok, Thailand from 8-10september 2019 Commerce & Industry and Railways minister Shri Piyush Goyal attended the 7th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) meeting of the 10members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) countries and its 6 Free Trade Agreement (FTA) partners in Bangkok, Thailand from September 8-10, 2019. Along with this meeting, he also attended the 16th ASEAN India Economic Ministers (AEM) meeting and the 7th East Asia Economic Ministers Summit held at the same place.
Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) Geneva, Switzerland The 22nd session of the United Nations (UN) Committee on Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was held at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Geneva, Switzerland from September 2-3, 2019. Indian delegation was led by Mrs. Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD).
South Asian Parliamentarian conference Srilanka at the Colombo United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) along with the parliament of Srilanka at the Colombo city conducted the two-day-long 2019 UNICEF South Asian Parliamentarian Conference on Children Rights Convention to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the convention of the rights of the child. This is the 3rd convention conducted by UNICEF with parliamentarians for children where the meeting aims to discuss the issues faced by children and on the challenges to improve the child right.
16th Global SME Business Summit  New Delhi The 16th Global SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) Business Summit for 2019 was held in New Delhi under the theme “Making Indian MSMEs Globally Competitive” on September 24-25, 2019. The summit organized by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) was inaugurated by union minister for MSME and Road Transport & Highways Mr Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Arun Kumar Panda, Secretary, MSME and others.
