  • The concern of uncertainty in food prices of the monetary policy is also reflected in a bulletin article released by RBI that is based on a question “Are Food Prices the ‘True’ Core of India’s Inflation?’.
  • The average retail inflation projection about January- March quarter by the MPC recent meeting is 20 basis points lower than its December forecast. It is at 5.0%.
  • This showcases the little comfort that policymakers have gained by the improvement in rabi sowing and seasonal correction in vegetable prices.
  • Policymakers need to stay on the track to achieve the inflation target.
