  • Without giving many details, Trump said that he had earlier used trade talks to help stop fighting between India and Pakistan that year.
  • He claimed he told Modi that the U.S. could not continue trade discussions while India was in conflict with Pakistan. According to Trump, Modi still wanted to keep the talks going.
  • Trump added that he also spoke with Pakistan’s Army and government, warning both India and Pakistan that the U.S. would freeze trade deals if the two nuclear countries did not stop fighting.
  • Trump praised Pakistan’s Army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling him “a great fighter” and “a great guy.”
  • According to Trump, after two days, both Modi and Munir called him back, saying they understood his point — and the fighting between India and Pakistan ended soon after.
  • Trump called it a quick and surprising result, jokingly asking whether President Joe Biden could have done it so fast.
  • In Tokyo, Trump also claimed he ended the war within 24 hours, saying that this happened after seven planes were shot down during a serious conflict between the two nuclear powers.
  • He said he had warned both Modi and Munir that no trade deals would move forward as long as the fighting continued, stressing that the world could not afford “nuclear dust” spreading due to a war.
  • Trump said both leaders at first argued that trade had nothing to do with the conflict, but he told them that peace in the region and trade were connected.
  • He said that after his warning, hostilities stopped within a day, calling the outcome “amazing” and an example of his style of deal-making.
  • Trump’s comments came at a time when relations between India and the U.S. were tense, especially after he imposed 50% tariffs on Indian exports to the United States.
  • The situation became worse when Trump added another 25% tax on India for buying crude oil from Russia, further hurting trade ties between the two nations.

  • For fisherfolk who couldn’t go fishing and handloom workers, the government announced 50 kg of rice, essential goods, and ₹3,000 per family as immediate help.
  • Other affected residents will get 25 kg of rice each. Over 1.8 lakh people were moved to 2,200 relief camps to reduce loss of life and property.

500 Indians in Thailand to be brought back home

  • The Myanmar military carried out operations against the KK Park cybercrime hub in Myawaddy township, which is known for cheating people worldwide through online scams.
  • After the raids began, several Indians trapped in the compound managed to escape across the border into Mae Sot, Thailand, seeking safety from the fighting.
