‘Vocabulary’
- Meager (adj.)
Meaning: (of something provided or available) lacking in quantity or quality. (अल्प)
Synonyms: inadequate, scanty, scant
Antonyms: abundant, ample, bountiful
Sentence: They were forced to supplement their meager earnings.
- Ponder (verb)
Meaning: think about (something) carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a conclusion. (विचार करना)
Synonyms: think about, give thought to, consider
Antonyms: disregard, ignore, overlook
Sentence: I pondered the question of what clothes to wear for the occasion.
- Revel (verb)
Meaning: enjoy oneself in a lively and noisy way, especially with drinking and dancing. (आनंद लेना)
Synonyms: celebrate, make merry, have a party
Sentence: They spent the evening reveling with their guests.
- Choppy (adj.)
Meaning: (of a sea or river) having many small waves. (तड़का हुआ)
Synonyms: rough, full of waves, turbulent
Antonyms: smooth, steady, still
Sentence: Sea conditions are often very choppy.
- Veered (verb)
Meaning: change direction suddenly. (मुड़ गई)
Synonyms: change direction, sheer, twist
Antonyms: straightened
Sentence: Without warning the car veered to the left and into an oncoming truck.
- Provocative (adj.)
Meaning: causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction, especially deliberately. (उत्तेजक)
Synonyms: annoying, irritating, exasperating
Antonyms: noninflammatory, subduing
Sentence: A provocative editorial that sparked a heated discussion.
- Squabble (noun)
Meaning: a noisy quarrel about something petty or trivial. (झगड़ा)
Synonyms: quarrel, fight, argument
Antonyms: peace, agreement, harmony
Sentence: Frightened by the noise of the squabble, the cat hid under the couch.
- Lackadaisical (adj.)
Meaning: lacking enthusiasm and determination; carelessly lazy. (नाजुक)
Synonyms: careless, enervated, languid
Antonyms: energetic, enterprising, motivated
Sentence: David has a rather lackadaisical approach to his work
- Adjudicate (verb)
Meaning: make a formal judgment or decision about a problem or disputed matter. (निर्णय करना)
Synonyms: judge, decide, arbitrate
Antonyms: equivocate, hedge
Sentence: The Committee adjudicates all betting disputes.
- Emolument (noun)
Meaning: a salary, fee, or profit from employment or office. (वेतन)
Synonyms: payment, fee, charge
Sentence: The annual emolument for the director of the charity is officially only one dollar.
