‘Vocabulary’
- Fidelity (noun)
Meaning: faithfulness to a person, cause, or belief, demonstrated by continuing loyalty and support. (सत्य के प्रति निष्ठा)
Synonyms: loyalty, allegiance, obedience
Antonyms: disloyalty, faithlessness, falseness
Sentence: I had to promise fidelity to the Queen.
- Chutzpah (noun)
Meaning: extreme self-confidence or audacity. (धृष्टता)
Synonyms: audacity, cheek, guts
Antonyms: bashfulness, diffidence, hesitancy
Sentence: It took a lot of chutzpah to talk to your boss like that.
- Colloquial (adj.)
Meaning: (of language) used in ordinary or familiar conversation; not formal or literary. (बोल-चाल का)
Synonyms: informal, conversational, casual
Antonyms: formal, learned, literary
Sentence: It’s hard to understand the colloquial idioms of a foreign language.
- Annulled (verb)
Meaning: declare invalid (an official agreement, decision, or result). (रद्द करना)
Synonyms: declare invalid, nullify, invalidate
Antonyms: allowed, approved, authorized
Sentence: His second marriage was annulled because he never divorced his first wife.
- Indecorous (adj.)
Meaning: not in keeping with good taste and propriety; improper. (अनुपयुक्त)
Synonyms: improper, inapposite, inappropriate
Antonyms: appropriate, decorous, suitable
Sentence: He cracked an indecorous joke at a solemn moment in the marriage ceremony
- Reverberation (noun)
Meaning: prolongation of a sound; resonance. (प्रतिध्वनि)
Synonyms: resonance, echo, echoing
Sentence: Jason heard the reverberation of the slammed door.
- Idyll (noun)
Meaning: an extremely happy, peaceful, or picturesque episode or scene, typically an idealized or unsustainable one. (सुखद जीवन)
Synonyms: wonderful time, moment of bliss, heaven
Sentence: His year as a vineyard worker in the south of France was not the idyll that he had expected it to be.
- Evocative (adj.)
Meaning: bringing strong images, memories, or feelings to mind. (विचारोत्तेजक)
Synonyms: reminiscent, suggestive, redolent
Antonyms: unreminiscent
Sentence: Those old toys are evocative of my childhood.
- Apprentice (noun)
Meaning: a person who is learning a trade from a skilled employer, having agreed to work for a fixed period at low wages. (शिक्षु)
Synonyms: trainee, learner, probationer
Antonyms: veteran
Sentence: He was an apprentice to a master craftsman.
- Cabal (noun)
Meaning: a secret political clique or faction. (साज़िश)
Synonyms: clique, faction, coterie
Sentence: He was assassinated by a cabal of aides within his own regime.
