  • National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) was launched in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with its formal inauguration by Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, Sarita Chauhan.
  • The event was attended by around 300 teachers.
  • Aims: Improving learning outcomes at Elementary level through integrated Teacher Trainings.

  • Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the National Tribal Festival – Aadi Mahotsav in New Delhi.
  • The theme of the 15-day Mahotsav is a celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Culture, Craft, Cuisine and Commerce.
  • Benefit: The Aadi Mahotsav is an effort to take tribal commerce to the next level of digital and electronic transactions. The tribal textiles manufactured by master tribal craftsmen from Jammu and Kashmir in the North to Tamil Nadu in the South and from Gujarat in the West to Nagaland/Sikkim in the East will be the main attractions.

India to contribute $13.5 million for UN development activities for 2020

India to contribute $13.5 million for UN development activities for 2020

  • India has pledged to contribute USD 13.5 million for various operational activities of development across the UN agencies for the year 2020.
  • India would contribute USD 5 million to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, USD 4.5 million to the UN Development Programme.
  • The World Food Programme will get USD 1.92 million, USD 900,000 to the UN Children’s Fund, USD 500,000 to the UN Population Fund, USD 200,000 dollars to the UN Voluntary Fund for Technical Cooperation and USD 150,000 dollars to the UN Commission on Human Settlements Programme.
  • India will also be contributing USD 100,000 each to the UN Voluntary contribution for Financial and Technical Assistance for the implementation of Universal Periodic Review, UN Environment Programme and UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

  • The director of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) RP Singh has said that the resignation of DDCA President Rajat Sharma has not been accepted. RP Singh further added that the Apex Council will take a decision on Rajat Sharma’s resignation.
  • Senior journalist Rajat Sharma had resigned from the post of president of Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA), citing his inability to continue amidst “various pulls and pressures” within the organization.

  • India on 16th November conducted successfully the first night trial of ‘Agni-II’, its versatile surface-to-surface medium range nuclear capable missile from Dr Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast.
  • The missile has a strike range of 2000 km. A defence official said this was the first time that the sophisticated missile was testfired at night.
